Question about Sony DAV-C900 System

Got a code c-81 then dvd player won't do anything. Help

Kid's were watching a dvd, then got sony screen, then went black.
We couldn't get it to open to take disc out or anything, then we got a c-81 code on dvd player.
I have no c-81 self-diagnosis function code for that one.
Any idea's what to do. Our system isn't that old.
Was working fine before this dvd.

A bizarre coincidence but our Sony DVD player DAV C700 did exactly the same when the kids were watching a DVD. All other functions on the system are still working but the DVD player wll not eject or play - and the self diagnosis function C 81 remains illuminated on the display.

When the self-diagnosis code C-81 displays, an internal problem has occurred with the HT system and will require service. Click the Repair & Status link on this page for available service...

Above is right from the Sony site. Get your wallet out and call the repairman.

I bought a DVD in France and my DVD player won't play it. I'd like to unlock it and put it in Zone 0, and I can't find the code. DVD player is a Sony DAV-HDZ278 . Can you help me or tell me where to go?...

Most Sony Dvd Players can be unlocked using this trick, but I can't guarantee as I haven't tried with this model. You can give a try.
First, switch On the player, eject/open the tray and enter 2812 using the Remote control. The default DVD region code will come up on the screen/lcd. Change it to what ever valid code you want to (in your case, change it to 0). The multi-region code is 9, so you can opt for that to play all the DVD format. Now press "Enter" on the remote and again, "Clear" and then "Exit". You can try whether it's been taken effect or not.

You can also use a freeware called DVDFab to unlock/Decrypt locked DVD. You can download it from here (click here). It's a pack of several DVD softwares and the only Free application is DvdFab, the remaining application with the pack are Trial version only.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Bose lifestyle 48 dvd black and white only

Go to the "Bose" menu screen viewing on your TV (make sure no dvd is in the player) Go to your Video controls and check your output, chances are, if your using the component output your player is set to "S-Video". Should fix the problem. Hope this helps. If it's still not viewing correctly, post a comment and I will help you some more

Sony DAV-C900 Home Theater System: problems with speakers and dvd picture quality Hello all, I hope someone can help me here... The speakers have been going off and on intermittently for a while now. I have cleaned the connections, but it does no good. Sony has these stupid color coded connectors and I do not know how to go about upgrading the wires. If that is even the problem. I have switched the wires around, and when I switch one that works to a non-working connector it will not work. When I put a non-working speaker wire into one of the working connectors, it will work--it almost seems to me that it is either a problem internally, or with that specific connector that sticks out of the rear of the unit. After fooling around with them for a while, I can usually get it to work, but then it will go out for no apparent reason. Another problem has to do with the picture. It has developed these squiggly lines while watching dvd's. Sometimes they go away after a while, but it is certainly annoying. I have attempted to clean the laser with one of those dvd cleaning disc's and even replaced the s-video cable, but neither has resolved this problem. It used to have an excellent picture, even though I wasn't using component cables. Due to my TV set-up, I need to use the S-video hook-up, but like I said it has always worked well until recently... We really do not watch that many movies, so I wouldn't think the laser is going bad--hell, the kids have many more hours on their xbox than this unit has...If I had the money, I would just go out buy a new system--not an HTIB this time, but this year has not been too lucrative, so I am stuck with this for the time. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dana
