The missing power button you have on the bottom of your TV is just a manual On and Off switch in case your remote does not work, it has nothing to do with the remote signals at all. Most TV's have a tiny little window or sensor in the front panel which recieves the IR signal from your remote, most IR recievers on TV's have a dark red little window as the sensor.
Nothing you can do without the original remote. One cannot get into the setup pages. Replacement remotes usually don't work on this point either. They are missing this special setup button. In order to watch DVD, VCR, connect them with a SCART cable. When you switch on the player, the TV will detect this and go automaticaly to this input. If connected with RCA plugs, you can choose the input with the program Up/Dwn buttons on the TV set itself, going "lower" than channel 1.
Get your Sanyo TV codes and one by one program the into you RCA universal until you can turn the TV on and off. Find codes at Sanyo.com, the manual, Sat Manual, Vcr Manual etc.
