My domestic rv ac unit reaches the temp setpoint and the compressor shuts off but not the fan, it just keeps on running. Is this normal or should the fan shut off also?

Set fan setting to auto and not high or low setting. Fan will cycle with compressor after setting set to auto or " au" if a digital thermostat.

My Goodman AC unit is not working when i turn on ac on with is cold but the fan not is not running why ? but the heat is working fine { fan is working with the heat

Generally the fan operates by the command from the thermostat. First thing I would try is put the fan/auto switch in the on position. If the fan comes on you have a problem with the thermostat or the green wire that goes to the G terminal on the thermostat sub base. I suspect he may not have programed the thermostat for the type of system you have or he doesn't have a jumper between the rc and rh terminal on the sub base. Sometimes the jumper is not required and the thermostat instructions must be read completely to get the answers. Goods luck hope this helps.

My ac is not on auto but it keeps turning off and on

Typically a thermostat has three settings. fan setting -on / off. System setting -heat / off / cool. and your temperature settings. Does the outdoor unit turn off and on but the fan runs, fan setting is on. Check your thermostat settings.

{my thermostat was flashing filter} I replaced filter and now air conditioner wont kick out cold air rth230b

Remove the thermostat wires and reconnect wires after 10 minutes. Then check. --------- yellow wire on thermostat is for cooling.Disconnect the yellow wire bolt remove yellow wire and then see if AC works will yellow wire unplugged..If its works that means the Thermostat is the issue. It has to be replaced. On some newer honeywell thermostats.there is blue wire instead of yellow wire. The connection is same, but blue wire is there instead of yellow wire.In that case disconnect blue wire and then see if AC works with blue wire disconnected. ---------- Check this. This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Trane ac, inside blower does not stop. The heater stops, the Ac compressor stops, but the inside blower does not, this the thermostat set at auto. Regards, Faylbp

Hi, I want you to try a couple of things for me if you will. Go to the thermostat and remove the cover. Now if you have a small bladed screw driver, loosen all the screw on this next section and remove it. Turn off power to the unit, if it is a split system, turn off the indoor unit. Once you remove this section which is the thermostat you will see the subbase and wiring. Take the red wire loose and off of the terminal. You may have a red jumper wire going from RH to RC. Remove the red wire coming into the stat at either point. Give it a minute and see if the fan stops now. If it does, you will need to replace the stat. If not, depending on the age of your unit, if your high limit/fan control tripped, that will be the problem. Some units have a fan control combination high limit that trips causing the fan to run all the time. You need to take a look at your heater section at the front of it to see what kind you have. If it is a combination fan/limit. it will be inserted into the fire box. It is square looking box with a cover on it some with a auto/ manual button on them Sometimes the contats will stick causing the fan to run. They can be removed with power off and cleaned up. They will have a dial with a temperature reading on them which tells the fan to come on when it reaches this set-point and off when it cools down. It may have stuck closed. Check what I have told you with the stat, and this and let me know the age of heater and if it is a split system Trane with a remote condenser and furnace located somewhere else. Get back to me on this.

I have an old RUUD central AC unit that started blowing hot air. I set the thermostat to off and set the temp gage higher than air temp to turn the unit off and save money, but inside blower unit runs...

Hello

Okay did you check your thermostat to see if you have the fan switch on auto? The switch must be on auto or the fan will continue to run. If the thermostat fan switch is on auto then there is a malfunction in the thermostat probably. You can go to your forced air unit and on unplug the unit. That way it will not turn on at all, because the forced air unit is controlled by the thermostat. Hope this helps.

Unit will run if the thermostat is switch on ON, but if left on AUTO unit will hum and won't run.

For most Thermostats on and auto is for the fan switch function. There s usually another button for heat off cool. When you turn a\c or heat on , the fan switch should be on auto.
