The description you provide indicates the magnetron has failed, "heats food" and the labored sound you hear supports that, cheaper to replace.

My sharp R-1492 microwave was running and popped and now it wont heat.

It sounds like the magnetron has failed, but there two other parts of concern, the high voltage capacitor and diode can be a factor, they work together to heat the food. Parts and labor can be high, depending on the nature of repair.

Loud noise wont heat [sharp R-820 BC

This is an indicator that the magnetron has failed, especially when it is followed by a loud sound, but there are two other parts that can be a factor, the high voltage capacitor and diode. The Convection/Microwave Oven needs to be assessed for parts and labor and cost.

The microwave is running with a big noise and can not heat food

The magnetron "heats food" has probably failed and is loading down the high voltage transformer making it labor as it runs, also the high voltage diode and capacitor must checked since they are part of the high voltage system. This not be cost effective to repair.

No heat

Hello there:
It sounds normal, but there's no heat When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need to test each of these parts with a multimeter and test for continuity generally no continuity during the testing means that the part you are testing is bad or is beginning to fail ok?
Hope this helps you out please feel free to post me a comment if you need any more testing help ok?
Best regards Michael

The microwave runs like normal but doesn't actually heat anything. I went to heat something and it came out cold. Timer set just fine, it ran and sounded like it always does, turntable turned, it dinged at...

The most likely problem is the magnetron that heats the food, the other less likely is the high voltage transformer that energizes the magnetron. To replace either part with labor would be as much if not more than a brand new microwave oven.

My JVM2070 starts/runs but does not heat. The

"Magnetron". It should actually have a 9-year part guarantee on the magnetron. Check your owner's manual here for the warranty info.

If it's within the magnetron warranty, G.E. will send you the magnetron to do it yourself or have it installed by someone you know.

Call them at 888-239-6832 with your model, serial, and manufacturing date and tell them you need a replacement magnetron.

The technical manual covering this model is here.

I can't tell you foreign labor rates, but generally a US shop will charge about $75-90 to visit the home, and about the same for the labor to do the work.

Bear in mind that shops have the overhead of equipment, training, employees, benefits, electric bills, fuel, and vehicle costs, etc.

GE magnetrons runs anywhere from $75-125 retail, depending on the shop's markup.

An overseas shop will have shipping charges, customs duties, and additional administrative costs associated with getting parts from the US.

LG Microwave LMV1650st wont heat food

Hi eb6181,

If it's within warranty, I'd exercise that and get it fixed.

Usually, if it appears to run, but isn't heating, the magnetron has gone bad. It's not a cheap part, and not really a DIY (do-it-yourself) operation. If your warranty covers the part, that will help a lot.

Even if not within warranty, I'd have an authorized service center do the job. They should have a list of authorized outlets with your manual and other literature. They can also give you a quote as to how much it will cost - - only you can make that call.

I had a magnetron replaced once, it was spendy, but ~20 years ago, microwaves were a lot more expensive than they are now.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it accordingly.

Thanks in-advance for using Fixya.com,

Jon

Emerson MW8119SB microwave wont stop running with door closed

It should have a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

I'd call Emerson at 1-800-695-0098 to find your nearest authorized service center to have it fixed free.

It's probably a bad door switch or door switch mount.

Time to buy a new microwave as it sounds as if the control panel is defective. A new control panel for this micro will run about 95 to 120 bucks + labor depending on where you buy it. I happen to like slightly burnt popcorn as well!! Nothing wrong with thats, as they say great minds think alike.
