Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

I was in the middle of typing a word document on my toshiba satellite laptop when the document disappeared and the screen stated it was configuring and then the laptop just shut down and i cannot turn it back on. what happened? did i loose all my work??

Unplug from wall + remove battery ... wait few minutes, replug and try rebooting GoodLuck !

When I start typing a message in Outlook Express, the screen disappears after entering about four characters. Then I have to do Alt+Tab a couple of times to bring it back. Then I can go on typing....


Your problem is most likely either a problem with viruses/malware or your graphics driver. Start out scanning with these two good, free programs:

Make sure to uninstall any anti-virus software you currently have before installing security essentials. If a full scan with both and reboot doesn't fix the problem then try downloading your graphics driver.

You didn't specify your exact laptop model, it goes further than a505. Navigate toshiba's menus until you select the exact model number for your laptop. You should see the display drivers then.

Toshiba l300, screen has gone to be generally black, but when I toggle between external monitor and laptop screen the laptop screen appears briefly then disappears again

This problem indicates that your laptop screen display panel is faulty, so replace it with new one,it will solve your problem.

Unfortunately with a virus on your system- get your documents printed out. You will likely have to reinstall windows completely to restore your system's functionality. With virii you can remove them manually, but many alter core system files, leaving the system incredibly unstable. Backups after this point are not advised- since the media you use for backup could be a vector for the virus reinfecting your system

Sounds like you need to run the recovery disk

If your have the Recovery Disk put it in and boot from cd/dvd,
[Push "F12" at the Toshiba boot screen to access the Boot Menu]

you will loss all your info,,

to save your info [pic's] you will need to plug your hard drive into a desktop with sata.. and back up you info that way then run the disk


if you dont have the disk you will need to get a new windows 7 dvd or contact toshiba for a new Recovery Disk set,

Some times they put the Recovery on the hard drive but i think you need the disk with this one.

you need to change the layout of your keyboard. "Regional Settings" in windows.
Check on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout what your layout is and configure the correct one in the operating system you are using

use your keyboard to save your documents then reboot the machine, before loading the machine back up check that all cables are plugged in correctly

Toshiba Satellite ethernet port disappeared...


I think you have answered your own problem, your wireless has possibly been zapped.
To test your ethernet adapter on your laptop connect it to a network hub, check the hub and see if you have a link light on the hub and or laptop..
To test your wireless router, connect it to a known working computer with a network card and check the router configuration, using the browser, if you cannot access it then its zapped.
