Im sorry your unhappy with me opoin but in lossing faith in craftsman product quilty . a couple of years ago i looked at the same mechine and it scared me so i bought a black max the same type thing spec wise but take this for example i bought a craftsman muilty tool a couple of mounts ago it was about a 100 bucks the first time i used it i know it was a peice of junk .The battery lifre is less then 10 munites the batterys fall out of the mechine unless you manualy hold them in and the locking tabs broke off the second battery when i tryed to remove it to recharge it . And i've always been a big fan of crartsman tools .So my opoin was the mechine was not worth buying for the money and buy the way i have 3 other air compressers that i use almost on a daily basis . good luck with yours and thanks for the rating

Not sure that this is a problem, the way you describe it sounds like normal pressure drop and then it comes on

I have a 6hp 33 gal aircomp i builds up to 100 should go to 250 wont shut off because not up to press can you help

Sounds to me likt you have a bad motor, or compressor. The compressor rings might be leaking by only holding 100 psi.

Craftsman Air Comp. 6 hp oil-less, 33 gal horz. tank - sounds really loud

Sources of noise from craftsman oil free compressors (could be Made by Campbell Hausfeld or Porter Cable) include loose fan, failing bearing/s on the piston rod and housing, failing seal ring on piston, air filter intake and loose motor mounts. With the housing cover off, check the fan blade for cracks or loose screw. Turn motor by hand till the piston is at top of stroke. Examine the cylinder for scratches close to top. If scratched, air is leaking past vinyl ring making noise and causing longer fill time. If everything looks ok, suspect noise coming from bearings. Hard to tell if bearings are failing by looking at them. I have seen many failures of the piston bearing on the crank (fairly easy to change, I use alternator bearing from auto parts ) , however, the bearing in the housing just behind the crank bearing is much harder to replacable. Good luck with your fix-it project.

I am changing the belt on a oil less 33 Gallon vertical 1.6 hp Craftsman Compressor and want to know if the bolt that holds the piston rod on is left hand or right hand threads?

This is standard thread, right to tighten and left to loosen.

Make sure to put a small amout of loctite on the threads when you put it back together.

Power on are compressor, hear buzz, but pump did not start .

if its just humming and not starting you may have a motor start capacitor on the motor thats bad and can't supply the starting voltage against the compressor

My 33 gallon air compressor will at start build up to 120 psi and shut off, after use and at about 80 psi the motor tries to start but kicks our circuit breaker? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Most likely it is the unloader valve. This is inline with the air filltube from compressor to tank. Somestimes the unloader valve is screwed into the tank and air tube is attached to it. This device takes the pressure out of the tube so the compressor can start without the back pressure from in the tank. Other possibility, the start capacitors of the motor. The capacitors must give a kickstart upon startup or the motor will just hum for a couple seconds and overload the breaker. A tempoary solution is to turn off the power to compressor when it reaches 120psi, then allow the pressure to drop to 40 or less, then turn power on and mostlikey compressor will start with a load of 40psi or less. It is a nuisance but it works until you replace the bad part. Goodluck,Macgivor

I have a 33 gallon Craftsman compressor that won't start. It's plugged in. There's power, but the switch seems to be dead. I tried unplugging it and letting it cool but it won't start up again. Any ideas?

Idea 1: your breaker/fuse is tripped/blown in the electrical panel, reset/replace and check the compressor again.

Idea 2: you may have a bad electrical cord with a break in it going to the pressure switch.

Idea 3: The pressure switch isn't closing the contacts when pressure is low. (bad pressure switch)

Idea 4: Wiring from switch to motor has a break in it. (test the at the motor for proper voltage) If proper voltage:

Idea 5: Bad compressor motor.
