Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

2 Answers

I tried to connect my PS3 to a new Sony Bravia tv, using an HDMI cable. After realizing the delay in the commands from controller to tv, I decided to reconned the system to my old tv with a/v cables. However, the connection is not being made. I think I may have chosen to connect only via HDMI when it had been connected to the Sony Bravia and now I can't get a connection on the old tv. Please help!

The tv does not have an HDMI hookup, and the a/v cables are in the right ports. How do I change the settings to 480i when there is nothing on the tv screen when I turn the ps3 on? It's as if nothing is connected, but all the wiring is properly hooked up. Thanks.

1. If you are connecting the video out to a TV ( analog) via " RCA' CABLES" make sure you have the colors in the correct ports first ( Red.>right sound / White > left sound/ yellow for video
2. the PS3 setting should be on the 480i settings (Standard NTSC).

3.If using a AV Multi-out cable with RCA connectors > AV multi out to the AV multi-output port on the PS3 > back panel.
4. If you TV has HDMI "in" port then use a HDMI out from the PS3 to TV in port.

You can easily bring up the initial setup screen again. Power off from the remote and when its in standby mode, press and hold the power button infront of the PS3 for about 10 seconds, till you hear 2 beeps. The inital setup screen will show up. Just follow the onscreen instructions and choose to output the signal via component and that should do the trick.

Hi,

All you have to do is reset the video settings on the PS3. Hold down the power button until you hear a single beep, then press it again.

That should have reset the video settings so you can play on the new TV.

I tried to use my PS3 on a new tv (Sony Bravia) with an HDMI cable. After seeing the delay, I decided to reconnect my PS3 back to an old tv using the regular A/V cables (the red, yellow, white ones) but...

This happens when you change the output settings to HD, then switch back to regular a/v because the tv dosen't recognize the signal. Thankfully there is an easy fix. Just turn the PS3 system on using the power button on the front and continue to hold it until you hear a second "beep" sound from the system. then picture should beging to work again.

My PS3 wireless controller works fine, except for the fact the it has a delayed reaction to every movement I make it do. If I move the joy-stick left 1.5 seconds later the same appears on the television....

It sounds to me like there is a noteable delay due to a combination of things: your Bluetooth wireless controler (primary reason), and the cable connection from your PS3 to your TV. Now, to determine what the problem is specifically, you'll need to check a few things:

1. Make sure your PS3 is updated to the latest software

2. Check to make sure your cable connections from your PS3 to your TV are firmly in place. I personally have noticed that I got delayed reactions when my HDMI cable was not firmly secured to my HD TV. Weird, but as soon as I unplugged and re-plugged in the cable at both the TV end and the PS3 end, it cleared things up for me. If that does NOT work (btw, this can also be the case if you use a composite or component set up too).

3. Check to make sure that your PS3 controller is fully charged. Controllers that are partially charged occasionally do demonstrate really weird results, like the delay you're talking about. So, make sure that your PS3 controller is fully charged.

4. If the controller is fully charged AND your PS3 to TV cable is plugged in properly, then try to plug the USB cable to connect your PS3 controller to your PS3. Sometimes, for reasons I don't know about yet, this could solve the delay problem.

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.

Hope that helps!

Please help with getting 5.1 sound from my TV!

You must run a Digital Optical cable from your PS3 to your reciever. Then press your function button on your recievers remote until you see SAT/CABLE on your recievers display. Next go to your PS3 settings and go to Sound settings, then Audio Output settings, and select Digital out (OPTICAL) then your done. This is the only way to get true digital sound from your PS3 to your reciever.
