Question about Celestron NexStar 11 Telescope

1 Answer

The LCD display on the handheld remote seems to be "fading". I'm running it on AC current, so that shouldn't be the problem. Could I have mistakenly turned off the display? Please advise. Thanks!

Probably too late, but you can change the brightness on the display. You may have accidentally turned it down. Let me know if you still have the problem and I can tell you how to access the brightness function on the hand controller.

Manual for tasco telescope 302675

That is not a current model and Tasco don't list a manual for that specific model number, but it seems very similar to the 40-060675 and 46-060675, the manual for which is here

You can try Three things:

1. Do you have fully charged batteries-- or a good power supply.

2. Sometimes the cable to the hand controller needs to be replaced

3. Execute a RESET on the hand controller and reload the firmware--

If these do not fix it, the hand controller is defective and must be replaced. You can find a used 497 controller for about $80 on AstroMart.com

and Meade can also sell you a new one.

Either you have a bad hand controller or your cable configuration is wrong.

scopestuff.com sells a longer coiled cable already made up-- it is very good quality. Order one:

I don't know what part of the world you are in, but here is a link to a Meade service center online that seems to be in California- LINK

If you are not in California, there is a contact link on the page so you can ask how to find the closest service facility to you.

Hi i just got a celestron nextar130 slt telescope and my screen on my handheld nestar computer all of a sudden doesnt show enything on it but the led lights stay on. can you help me ?

Look for a loose connection in the hand controller cable. Also the batteries must be full charge. It is better to run these using a separate 12 volt power pack than the internal batteries.

Could be anything from a bad hand controller cable, LOW battery power, or a blown out hand controller.

Check the cable and the batteries first.

Hand controllers do NOT like cold weather. It's just a function of the LED lights. Put the hand controller in your pocket to keep it warmer than the outside temperature.

Your scope has a maximum magnification of about 40 times aperture. So about 200 power. If you exceed this the image just starts to degrade -- it gets bigger BUT fuzzier.

Stay with lower magnification eyepieces. Certainly above about 10-12mm...... You will get better views using eyepieces from 15-22mm, and you need one wide field low magnification eyepiece of about 30-32mm.

Sears UltraSoft 800 Water Softener LCD Display wonky

You need to ask at radio shack or similar electronics store for some kind of gell that will connect the rubber strip to the display. These displays show the information that runs through the rubber strip(fiber optics, I believe?).
It is critical to get a near perfect connection between the two.
Also for cleaning, I would ask a tv repair man what kind of spray solution he uses to clean circuit boards.
Also, whenever you are dealing with electronics, there is a possiblility of causing static which can wipe out a programmed chip on one of the circuit boards. That is why some components that are ordered come in a static free plastic.
