Windows 7 and compatabilty problems with older systems is creating alot of problems for people, it's not just you. I can't find anything taht will work for you at Asus and Soundmax (AD1988 chip), has been under construction for a long time. My suggestion to you is, either find a graphics card (AGP8X slot) thats compatible with Windows 7, I would choose an ATI/AMD HD Radeon because it would solve sound probem as well, or you could get something like the Sounblaster Live 5.1 USB sound card. They are relatively inexpensive and provide raet sound for the money.

As an example Gigabyte GV-R465DZ-1GI(Newegg) Radeon HD 4650, would give you great graphics, HDMI od DVI hook up upgrading you video and audio systems. One other thing you can try is, click "start", then on "control panel". Find and right click on "device mananger", open, and click on continue. click on the box(right side) of "sound audio and game controllers" Right click on your device(s) one at a time and you should see "disable". If you see "enable" click on that and exit. Right click on them again and click on "properties". You should see "this device working peoperly". Right click on "driver" tab, then on "update driver". Click on "automatically search for update...". When finished, exit. Right click on speaker icon in taskbar, lower right of screen, then click on "open sound mixer" and adjust volume. If you have more than one device you may have to alternate enabling and disabling you devices.

Hi.

I see this from time to time.
Here is where I would go to get the proper audio drivers.

Realtek . com

They have both ac'97 type audio drivers, as well as hd audio drivers.

Select the type of software that you want for your system, and operating system as well.

The software has different downloads for the different operating systems, so the one for xp won't work at all for windows 7, and vice versa.

Install the one you want, then reboot.
If done properly, this will fix your audio problem completely.

Windows will now recognize your audio device and install the correct drivers and software for it.

I hope this helps you out, good luck, and, as always, feel free to give me a top rating !!

Thanks

Toshiba a25-s2792 No sound in windows 7

Yes,....good Ol' Windows updates. Known to knock a system partially out of commission.

Windows has lost the address to the Audio drivers. The reason it states Audio is working properly, is because Windows is full of it.

The Toshiba Satellite A25 series of Notebook PC's, did not come with Windows 7. It came with Windows XP. You, or someone else installed Windows 7.

The updates knocked the audio driver address file to the curb.
All you have to do, is install the Win7 installation disk again, and perform a Repair.
(Non-Destructive Installation)

OR, use the Restoration Disk, (Backup disk)

Toshiba eSupport does not provide audio drivers for Win Vista, or Win 7, for this model. Only Win XP,

{Do I think going to Device Manager, and rolling back the audio driver, or upgrading it, will help? NO }

ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe motherboard with no sound

This is a known isue and ASUS is working on a sound driver for the chipset. Keep checking their site for driver updates. The board should all install with Windows 7 except for the sound drivers. Some people say they can install the vista driver and run it in vist or xp compatibility mode. The other thing you can do is pick up a cheap $20 Win 7 compliant sound card till the chipset driver issue is resolved.

I have p-iv pcc 2.66ghz processor , ia hve recently updated my pc with windows 7 but suffering some problems with it. i can;t found any compaatible drivers with it {audio n video } plzzzz help me out

try the vista drivers. I noticed when I tried Windows 7 most of the drivers where vista drivers. If not try looking at the manufacture website for drivers, however not likely to find them this early in testing.

Audio driver for windows 7 ultimate

Your Driver might be incompatible or incorrect driver. Check carefully, if you install it incorrectly, your PC could be at risk.

Since Windows 7 is a new operating System. Most Manufactures don't have the drivers of it. Talk to your Computer Adminstrator or contact one.

Windows 7 has recently released, so it's not recommend to upgrade it. You can rollback to Vista or XP with the System Restore if you wish.

You can also contact or email Microsoft for more info.
