Don't know if it's the contacts on the battery or the contacts on the camcorder.
When you connect the battery, it keeps coming up on the screen COMMUNICATION ERROR.
Sometimes the message CHECK LENS COVER flashes when you first turn the power on.
Everything works fine when you use internal power.

- I bought a replacement data battery BN-VF-808U from Digicowfish through Amazon.com. (?made by PomerPower).It fits nciely to my JVC Everio GZ-MG330 which uses a BN-VF808U data battery. However, JVC gives a screen message:Communicating Error.
Now I have solved my Communication Error by using a jumper cable provided with the replacement battery BN-VF808U to connect the attached replacement battery to the camcorder. There is a DC input socket on the camcorder. There is also a DC input socket on the replacement battery for direct connection.

- The battery that came with the camera works fine as does the DC power. I purchased a larger battery as a spare. After charging the battery it's giving me this error message. Just bought the whole set-up so I'm just starting to look into the problem. - miken515Best Solution

Problem
I had this same problem with the JVC Everio GZ-MG21U. I have been using an aftermarket battery and it has been working fine. Just recently I had a communication error show up between the battery and the camera. I couldn't get any of the four batteries I had to work (two JVC and two aftermarket long life large batteries).
Solution I used camera lens cleaning solution and a cleaning cloth to clean the terminals on the camcorder itself, as well as the battery. I have tried three battery packs so far and charged two of them fully. It seems to have solved the problem.
