Don't want to use color cartridge on hp4315v

Click Print then select Properties or Page setup. There should be a way to tell it to either use the black cartridge only or to print in Gray Scale.

Replaced black cartirdge and now i am getting cartridge error consult users manual

Make sure you are using genuine Lexmark black cartridge. Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. You might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.
Try to reinsert your black cartridge and make sure it is properly seated in the cartridge carrier. If error comes back up right after placing it in the printer, then it could be a faulty cartridge. Try to replace it with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. If you are already using a genuine Lexmark cartridge, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

I need to know how to remove the ink cartridges

Hello,
First of all,

1.Turn on the printer. Open the main lid or hatch. Printers come in many shapes and sizes. Look for the main compartment where you think the ink cartridges might be. If you need help, consult the manufacturer's webpage

Step 2 Press the lever to open the cartridge housing. Many but not all cartridges are encased in a cartridge housing.

Step 3 Pull on the cartridge slowly, in an up-and/or-down and outward way. It shouldn't take much effort. If there is a problem removing the cartridge, consult the manufacturer. Do not try to pry or force it out, as this might damage your printer.

Step 4 Repeat step 3 for every cartridge you need to remove. Some printers have one black and multiple color ink cartridges, while some have one black and one multi-color cartridge.

Step 5 Shut the hatch and or lid, and turn off the printer.
BEST OF LUCK

Cartridge Error # 1203 when replacing black ink cartridge

It sounds like the printer thinks it is not a genuine ink cartridge. Fit a Lexmark cartridge to cure it.

My lexmarkp4350 is not printing the black ink

Ok this some times works.

Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

1 - try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..
or
2 - when error shows up, shut the printers power off; wait one minute and turn it back on press copy.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

LEXMARK x5150

I have one of these and it has had similar problems, errors not listed in the manual. I don't use mine much, so I took out the cartridges and cleaned them as well as the contacts and other surfaces. It didn't help. I replaced the black one and it works now. Your printer cartridges only last so long, even if you don't use them they expire and won't work. Once you remove the cellophane covering, they don't have a long life. Your printer will work without the color cartridge by the way. When the "no color cartridge" error appears, just click continue and it will print in black and white. Don't know if this helps, since your post is older, but I hope it does!!

The black and white does work

Your printer canno read the black cartridge because it was not sat down in it's proper position. Do not be afraud to click it into place, consult your manual on proper cartridge refilling, and positioning. If it is not quite in and you try to print, no black will come out of course. Once right in place try and print again.
