Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I'll address the bulk of your post in a word, Yes.

To clarify, you asked " THEY ARE POP RIVETED IN. CAN I REPLACE THEM AND DOES A BAD FRONT SEAL MAKE THE DRUM HAVE EXCESS MOVEMENT. ARE THE BROKEN FRONT BRACKETS A COMMON PROBLEM "

The parts you speak of are the drum glides and glide supports. The are teflon material and typically will have a felt material under them which will allow the drum to ride with little resistance over the metal supports underneath.

When split into individual items, you will have these parts...

Glide support # 37001036 approx. $8.00 at "searspartsdirect.com"

MY AMANA DRYER SEEMS LOOSE. - macmarkus_487.jpg The glide itself of course, #37001298. approx. $5.00...same as above

macmarkus_488.jpg
And the glide felt # 500092 approx. $3.00, also sears. (this will remedy the up & down play you noticed)

macmarkus_489.jpg
And finally, yes these front pieces are common items to wear out over time. Hope that answers your question and gets you fixed up. Let me know if I can assist you in any manner going forward.

Please take a moment to rate the info provided here for you today and take a second to leave a testimony is appreciated as well.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

You dryer belt may be shot and a piece of rubber is missing making it jump while working. Needs replacing before it completely quits. It will eventually just break apart.

My Kenmore dryer model #110.9757 is making a loud noise

DRYER MAKES NOISES.

A loose or worn BELT can make funny noises

Or the idler pulley that puts tension on the dryer drum drive belt could be worn out. If the pulley is bad we recommend also replacing the belt.

The glides on drum worn and making metal to metal contact.

The drum slides or glides support the front of the drum. As the drum rotates over the years, the glides wear out and then the dryer makes noise. Replace all of the glides as a set if they are worn out.

CHECK FOR LOOSE BELLOES inside the drum

Sometimes an item can get stuck inbetween the drum and the housing and scrape and grind making funny noises, things like coins, bra wire, nails, hair pins, etc sometimes u can just remove the cabinet and observe by turning the drum by hand or looking for scratch or scrape marks on housing.

The blower:

Clumps of lint, socks, and other small articles of clothing can get past the lint filter and into the blower wheel. If the dryer makes noise, and the noise seems to be at a very fast pace, there might be something caught in the blower wheel. In addition, the blower wheel sleeve might be worn out, allowing the blower wheel to wobble on the motor shaft. If this happens, replace the blower wheel.

The bearings:

The drum bearing supports the rear of the dryer drum. If the dryer makes noise this bearing might be worn out. Replace the bearing if it is worn out. Do not lubricate the bearing, the lubrication will attract lint and dirt and accelerate the wearing process.

The bearings TEST by moving drum by hand u may be able to feel loose or rough movement. And listen to sounds when turning it.

The drum rollers or castors:

It is very common for dryer drum rollers to wear out. If the dryer makes noise, particularly a loud rumbling noise, one or more of the rollers may be worn out. After removing the drum from the dryer, inspect the rollers.

Check for cracks, dryness, or damage and not engaging drum properly. Sometimes u can use high density LITHIUM BASE gear grease to re oil/grease them.

GOD IS GOOD !!!!

My dyer is makes a loud, rattling sound.

did you find what caused the blower fan to break in the first place?I suspect the casing around the fan may not be clearing and something is in the fan again. or the keepers to keep it on the motor shaft are loose. The rollers for the drum and belt may be faulty. these are all of the parts that move so it has to be one or more of them.

Wed6200sw works fine except its making metal draging sound

you'll have to take it apart and check the rollers and pulley and also check around the front of the drum, there's a felt seal there that i've found the drum cuts through it or something could be stuck in the felt, pull out the lint filter and remove the two screws in front of it,then get a screw driver and stick it in between the top cover and the front panel around two inches from the corner and pop up the top cover, check the drum to see if it looks like something is rubbing against it.if so unplug the dryer, disconnect the wire connector on the right side, and remove the two 5/16 inch screws that hold the front panel on.watch video

also while you have it apart vac it out.if nothing wrong with felt you can buy a kit with the belt, rollers and pulley to change them out,one of these should be your problem but metal on metal i would check the felt seal first.hope this helps and good luck.

When i turn it on, it sqeaks and sound like metal scraping. the drum appears to be loose

UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your first problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
Your second problem the scraping noise may be caused by a faulty front seal
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum, front seal and belt. Check the front seal to see if it is in place and is in good condition. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Loud rattling noise, but dries ok

The drum of a dryer is supported b the front and back of the unit, spins on a felt gasket. Noise is coming from rollers or their is something stuck between drum and the felts. The pulley is a piece of springy metal with a plastic wheel on it, could also be worn. If you take off front of dryer, drum will come loose, check to see if something is stuck. Common for loose change to get jambed in felts. Also spin rollers and pulley to see if need to be replaced. I still think something is caught in felt.

Loud Squeaking Noise kenmore gas dryer 80 series

You need to change your drum rollers. To get to them you take the dryer apart from the front not the back. There are 2 screws where the filter goes in on top. Then pull the top toward you and up. Then remove the 2 - 5/16 inch screws on each side of the front panel about 2 to 3 inches down. Then pull the front up and out. Then you will see everything. Replace the belt, drum rollers, and idler making sure to oil each as you re-install them. Then put back together and your on your way.
