Question about HP Photosmart C5280 Printer
The scanner glass is most likely dirty, even though you can't see it.
You can scan a white page with some number scattered in a grid to know exactly where the problem is. Once you found it, you can get a non-abrasive cloth and slightly humidify it (it should not drip) with an all-purpose cleaning solution.
Clean gently around where you think the problem is. You will probably feel a small bump, indicating you found the place of the problem. Continue cleaning until you cannot feel anything anymore. It should have solved the problem.
