Question about Husqvarna Garden

Open Question

The model number is LM51288 it is about 20 years old but not used extensively. The pull start is almost impossible to pull and I have been told the engine needs deglazing. I have received an estimate of three hundred dollars for the repair and I would like to do the repair. I would appreciate instructions for disassembling and reassembling the engine as well the deglazing process. It just does not make sense to me to scrap a perfectly good machine because it is cheaper to buy a new one. I would appreciate any assistance offered Thanks Jim

SOURCE: No Start Echo CS 670

Sorry to echo the bad news you heard but... often metal transfer from the piston to the cylinder feels like compression. Try part 3 of this, Attempt to shine a light into the plug hole through while inspecting above the exhaust port. Most often in a run lean condition metal transfer occurs above the exhaust manifold.
Starter Handle difficult to pull:
1. Remove the starter cover.
Inspect the flywheel and crankshaft under the starter cover. Are the woodruff key slots on the crack shaft and flywheel aligned and the key intact? If not; Please consider taking the saw to a good local saw seller/mechanic for a written diagnosis before authorizing any repair or ordering any parts; if yes continue.
Does the starter operate smoothly? If yes, reinstall the cover and continue with 2, if not repair the starter.
2. Is the saw equipped with a decompression valve? Yes continue, no proceed with 3.
Leave the ignition off, set the valve and pull the starter.
Pull gently to release the valve. Is there a difference in the effort required?
If yes continue with 3, if no repair or replace the decompression valve.
3. Was this saw perhaps operated in a lean condition (metal transfer from the piston to cylinder wall)? This may be caused by many things including but not limited to; leaky intake connections at the engine or carburetor; leaky crankcase seals; cracked fuel delivery lines; running on gasoline containing no 2-cycle oil.
Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the plug. Remove the muffler (clean it and the spark arrestor before reinstalling), hold a light at the plug hole and inspect the cylinder through the exhaust port. Is it smooth and shiny or does it appear speckled with dull gray spots or smears?
Pull the starter slowly, inspect the piston as it rises and falls. Is it a dull gray without scratches and gouges?
Hold the light at the exhaust port and look through the spark plug hole, inspect the cylinder above the exhaust port. Is it shiny and smooth or speckled with gray spots or smears?
Please Note: Any spots or smears on the cylinder or deep scratches and gouges in the piston indicate the saw was operated in a lean condition. Repair of this on a home owner quality saw often exceeds replacement cost. A repair estimate by an independent saw shop should be considered.

The cost of a P&C nears the cost of a new saw. Join here, search for acid and maybe you can get by with just replacing the piston. This is good bunch of folk that will offer all help possible.

No model number given but my guess is there is a thermostat. Are you saying the mains goes directly to the element with no over temp protection? Seems unlikely
I'm impressed that you got an element for a 30 year old trolley. If it used to work, unless you have been very unlucky it is unlikely (but not impossible) that both elements have gone low resistance the same way. Disconnect the mains and measure the elements resistances (both) with a test meter. what is the quoted wattage and what is your line voltage? (I don't know if you are 220,240 or 110). report back

I have a Goodman model number CKL36-1D, serial number 0103555264. When was it manufactured? I was told that it was 3-5 years old. Please confirm...clarify. Thanks.

Serial number 0103 = 2001, March. It is now 2011 so your unit is just over 10 years old or about half its life has been used.

Caloric Gas Range Model #355 19 years old. Is there a replacement ignitor available to replace the old one?

Being that your range is 19 years old it might be a bit difficult to find the correct igniter but not impossible. The model number that you gave is not giving any good results. You can go here http://www.repairclinic.com/Caloric-Range-Stove-Oven-Parts?s=b74a13c249 and look at these igniters to compare with the one on your range. You might get lucky and one of these could be a replacement that will work. Most local range parts suppliers are very helpful on locating hard to find parts but you may need to remove the igniter and bring it in so they can match it up in their catalog. You might also be able to find the correct igniter if you use the part number on the ceramic igniter housing to do a parts search with. Most 20 year old ranges use a standard "flat style" hot surface igniter but there are different OHM ratings for some igniters and this rating is important for you to match up correctly with your current igniter OHM rating or you could damage the gas control valve and/or the new igniter.

The control panel is flashing F1 oon my stove. A technician told me that parts were no longer available. I think the stove is about 15 years old and I don't have the model number with me at this time....

The code is: 'failed thermistor control' and the bad part is the 'electronic range control'. Look inside the oven door opening edge for a model number--usually an aluminum plate glued to the surface. Once you find the model number, get on the internet and search (GE mod#, part). If doing your own repair, be sure to remove power by pulling the plug or switching off the appropriate breakers.

I need to get a replacement saw blade guard for an old Rockwell Delta Radial arm saw. 12'' Blade Serial # MX3 2843 I don't know what model number this saw is to get the right part.

you can try going to Dewaltservicenet.com and locating it that way but with only the serial number it would be impossible. Is there any numbers on it to indicate the model or partial model and you can pull up breakdowns that way.
