The wep key is encrypted on my wireless router. The DS is not asking for a password, nor is there anywhere to enter a password. My router does not ask for a password when I use a laptop. I already tried resetting the router, that didn't work. The DS shows an error message when testing connection, " unable to obtain IP address, move closer to the access point." when I am sitting next to it. I changed the wep key and entered it manually into the ds as well as manually entering all other numbers. We had no problem accessing wi-fi hotspots at other places. I don't know how this router SHOULD be configured, we've always just used it for the home pc and laptops. We just wanted to try to get access for the ds. Any suggestions?

The WEP key is the key that you use to access the Internet through the router. If you use a laptop to get on the Internet, you are asked for a password before you can surf the Internet. That password you type in is the same you should type into your DS Lite.
If you don't know, then you can get a paper clip and push the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds and that will erase the password.

The Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite are not compatible with WPA security. If you would still like to connect your Nintendo DS online, you will need to either change your router's security to WEP, or disable security entirely. Please note that any changes you make will affect other devices that connect wirelessly to your router.

51102

Hello! Error code 51102 is caused when your WEP security key for your router has changed since you last used it on your DS.

This is what to do.
Verify the Access Point's WEP Key is entered correctly into the Nintendo DS. If your router has slots for more than one WEP key, the first (#1) must be the one selected on your router. If you need assistance, click here and select your router manufacturer and model number. If available, our router pages can provide specific steps and information that may help you with your router's WEP Key.
If you have multiple connection files saved to your Nintendo DS, the error message you received can help determine which connection file may be experiencing a problem:

If the above information does not work, and you are connecting at home with a wireless router, there could be settings on your router that need to be adjusted. You can click here for more information.

Can't get to the web. Asking me to enter wep key? Where do I get this or what is this all about.

Hi there.

Normally wireless connections are protected by a password. That password is either a WEP or WPA. In your case, you are using a WEP Key password. This is the key you used for your wireless router at home. The same key that you input into your laptop to access the internet, that is the key that needs to be input in the DS Lite in order for it to successfully connect to the internet.

My ds lite wont connect to our internet i have a wireless router the ds says the security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds

WPA and WPA2 are not supported by the DS Lite, only WEP and unencrypted wifi connections are. There is no known way at the moment to make the DS Lite support WPA of any form so your only three options are to go to WEP encryption, use no encryption (not recommended), or set up an adhoc connection on a computer with that is connected to your router that has internet connection sharing enabled.

How do you find the wep key on nintendo ds?

The WEP key is not anywhere on the DSi. The WEP key is the password you put on your wireless connection. If your ISP set up your wireless then your WEP key might be on your router.

What is the Nintendo DS WEP code?

WEP code is nothing but the security key for the wireless network. You will need to check the settings of the router. Do you have any computer connected to the router or any computer going online using the router. You can open the set up page of the router and check the settigns of the router. You will find the WEP code on the router page.
