You have to disassemble the printer to find the entire waste ink tank (they are just two sets of absorbant pads). The first set of absorbant pads are under where the ink cartridges sit when at rest (or during cleaning cycles). The rest are at the bottom of the printer and you usually have to remove several screws to get to the location. Start at the top of the printer and work your way down.

I hope this helps.

Canon BJC- 1000 LPT 1 printer. STATUS: the used ink tank is full. printer not performing.

HI,

Your printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. As time goes by, the waste ink tank gradually fills. When the waste ink tank is nearly full, you should receive a "Waste ink warning" error when you print. Press the RESUME button on the printer to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, have the waste ink tank replaced.

Note
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.
