I have the same problem, its very frustrating.    I've run loads of water through in case something is blocked but can't get anything at all to come out the steamer nozzle.

    Hey all,

Same problem here. Fairly young machine but no steam. Trying the boiling water and vinegar. Fingers crossed.

When I got my X1 (used,) the steamer was clogged. I unscrewed the end of the nozzle, and a big chunk of calcium(?) came out. I had to poke it with some wire with the steamer on. The way I got the end off is: I wrapped it with a leather glove first, then turned it with a pair of pliers. I still managed to scratch it a little bit though. Maybe you can turn it by inserting a needle in the little hole on the side of the nozzle. I've been thinking of using distilled water to avoid the calcium build-up in the future.

Hi again, I looked at some other posts on this site and tried soaking the steam wand in a cup of boiling water with a cap of vinegar in it.   I left it about 20 minutes and it worked very well.   My problem was just that the wand was blocked with dried milk on the inside.  I'll make sure to run water through after steaming milk in future .....

I have a Francis Francis x1 machine, but when i want to make an espresso shot, and turns on the espresso button, the steamer spour out boiling water (not steam, and not while turned on). Does anyone k

Don't know how your controls are set, but you have two switches on the front and a knob on the right. The switch for the steamer (the right hand switch) should be off. The knob on the right should be turned clockwise to turn in off. Then no water or steam should come out of the steamer wand. If it does, the seal on the knob inside the machine is broken. It can be repaired but only if you're handy with a screwdriver (make sure if you take it apart you disconnect it from the mains).

First check the nozzle at the end of the steam wand, if you have hot water for coffee then you should have something coming out of the steam wand. If the wand is not blocked and the pressure is low then the thermostat might need to be replaced.

Francis francis milk steamer not operating

Check the end/nozzle of the steam wand, if you open the wand and while getting nothing it is hot, then the nozzle is blocked use a paperclip to clear the hole at the end of tip. If you have done this already and still no steam then it is clogged where the steam valve connects to the boiler.

Leaking water from steamer

For the grouphead check the basket there might be a slight bump around the edge that is preventing it from making a good seal when it contacts the gasket in the head. If the Double works fine then the gasket is not the problem.
For the steam wand try flushing wand for 3 seconds just before steaming, if that does not help with the watery milk, then the boiler is not getting hot enough to produce steam.

Not frothing milk

that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

Very common problem with the american maid makers.

bear also in mind that Krups are not the best at frothing milk, and this is also a basic model.

If you want the best capuccino Coffee machine, buy the italian ones, Gaggia, Delonghi, Ariete etc. that are all great at this, or get a bigger Krups as a replacement like the Krups XP405040 that is also good at capuccino

Milk froths at 1st then doesn't after 1 week

Ensure first that you are using the steam pipe in the correct way to froth the milk.

If it still does not work, that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

If you think you are doing everything in the right way, then contact the company and insist for having the machine fixed or replaced.
