I have a casio fx-991MS, how do i make a superscript of a number using the calculator

I assume you want an exponent. On this calculator you use the ^ key.

For example, enter 3, enter ^, enter 3, = should give you 27.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck.

I need step by step instructions on using Casio fx-115ES ee or exp burron.

The equivalent of the EE or EXP button on the Casio Fx-115ES is marked as x10^X. It is located at the bottom right of the key pad left of the = key.
To enter the power of 10 in a number written in scientific notation, you press the x10^X button followed by the exponent. If the exponent is negative you press the change sign key first [(-)] , then the one or 2 digits in the exponent.
Example Enter the mass of the proton m_p in kilograms
1.6726217 [x10^X] [(-)]27 [=]
In grams the value above is multiplied by 1000.
or
1.6726217 [x10^X] [(-)]24 [=]

Since the calculator has the physical constants (the FX-991ES definititely has them)
  1. Display the proton mass in kilograms
  2. [SHIFT ][7] to open the constants catalog,
  3. type 01 for the proton mass, then press the [x^-1].
  4. Divide the result by 1000
  5. You should get 5.978638635 x10^23

I need to know how to divide, mutiply, add, and substract in scienctific notation on my Casio fx-300ES

The "problem" is not how to calculate with numbers expressed in Scientific Notation but how to enter a number given to you in scientific notation. Once the number is entered you do not have to do anything special. If you have to multiply it use the (x) button. to add it use the + button, etc.

How to enter a number in scientific notation.

Type in the mantissa (example 6.022)
Press the [X10^x] at the bottom of keypad.
Enter the exponent (example 23)
with this example you will have entered Avogadro's number 6.022x10^23
Other example
1.6 [X10^x] (-) 19 enters the electron charge in Coulombs. The exponent is negative that is why you press the change sign key (-).

To enter powers of trigonometric functions you must enclose the functions in parentheses and then apply the exponent to the whole. For example X1t =(sin T)^3 , Y1t=(cos T)^3 will give you a shape similar to a rhombus with concave sides. The symbol ^syands for the operation of raising to a power. The key is the one with the caret symbol ^ , and it is wedged between the xsqure and EXIT keys (third row of keys).
As regards the cotangent, use the equivalent definition cot(X)=1/tan(X).

To enter a power of ten, use the *10^x key, located on the bottom row of the keyboard between the decimal point and the Ans keys. For example, to enter 1.2 times ten to the third, press 1 . 2 *10^x 3

To raise a number to a power, use the x^* key, located just below the big round cursor pad, between the x^2 and log keys. For example, to calculate 2 raised to the fourth power, press 2 x^* 4 =

Exponents

To enter decimal exponents, use the x10^x key below the 3, followed by the exponent. For example, to enter one million, press 1 x x10^x 6 and see 1000000 (actually, the leading one is optional: if you press x10^x without a value, the calculator will supply a 1).

To raise a value to a number, use the x^ key above the sin, followed by the exponent. For example, to calculate 2^3, press 2 x^ 3 = and see 8.

Negative log

Use the log function (common logarithm). See screen capture for markings on key.
83c0b62.jpg
To evaluate the negative of a logarithm
Enter the number (argument) of the logarithm
Press the = key to have it calculated.
While result is still displayed, press the sign change key or (+/-).

Beware that -log(number) is not necessarily a negative value.

Another way to calculate -log is to use the relation
log(1/a)=-log(a) .

Your example

3 [EXP] [(] [+/-] 2 [) ] [LOG][=] [+/-]

[EXP] is the key to enter exponent of a power of 10 :It is a shortcut, so no 10 is entered. Respect the key sequence above.
[ (] left parenthesis to prevent ambiguity due to the negaticve exponent. Just a security.
[)] is the enclosing right parenthesis
[+/-] is the Sign Change key

How to enter variables

Hello,

When you press the key between X^2 and log it gives you a template where you enter the base of the power (bigger rectangle) and the exponent (the smaller raised rectangle) . Using the 3 cubed exemple is not good because base and exponent are the same.

Exemple :15 cubed.
Press the key with an X with a small raised rectangle. The cursor blinks at the left side of the raised rectangle. Enter the exponent (3). Then use the left arrow to move the cursor to the base. Enter 15 and press [=]. The result is displayed as 3375 or in some other equivalent form (with a power of ten.)
Hope it helps.
