My mdg308daww spins, the heat igniter, glows for about 5-10 seconds and then stops after about a minute it glows again. The igniter was tested ok, and the coils were replaced still the same problem....

Assuming the gas supply valve is turned on, I would make sure the gas valve orifice in your dryer isn't plugged up. If its not that leaves your gas valve not letting the gas in. Very rare though.

Kenmore gas dryer 80series model 110.c72852101

if you hear the valve clicking but no gas the valve is bad.when the burner lights theres a probe that senses that it is lit and sends a microvoltage back to the controller to tell its lit.check to make sure all ground wires are grounded to a clean metal surface.

Ignitor is lighting but silinoid is not opening to let gas through.Roper model # RGS7646KQ3

Hello,

Hello,
Your have one of two problem causing the gas to not come on on your dryer.
1) the flame sensor is bad...if the igniter comes on and stays on and doesn't go off...usually within 1 minute the flame sensor isn't working as its supposed to
2) the coils on the gas valve could be the problem...if the igniter does indeed go off within 1 minutes and as soon as the igniter goes off if their is no flame the coils on the gas valve is what would need to be replaced
here is what each part looks like

On my Kenmore Soft Heat Heavy duty gas dryer I am having problems with the the fire lighting and going off intermentently . The fact that it ignites and then goes out makes me think that it isn't...

Hello Jerry,

It is working like its supposed to when the flame goes off, the way all dryers work is the flame(heat element on electric heated dryers) comes on and when the drum exhaust temp reachs a maximum of 155degrees and the flame goes off, the air temp will cool off to 120degrees and the flame comes back on and cuts off once again the 155 degrees has been reached..much more that 155 degrees the clothing is very likely to combust and catch on fire.

Please reply and let me know if your having a dryability issue with your dryer or where you just concerned since the flame went off??

I HAVE A KENMORE DRYER, MODEL # 110.78652700 AND THE BURNER DOES NOT IGNITE. DRUM TURNS BUT NO IGNITION. ANY IDEAS?

check to see if the ignitor is lighting,, if it is,, then you need the coils replaced, on the burner control,, this link shows where they are http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/sears-kenmore/17748-kirkland-gas-dryer-no-heat.html if the ignitor isn't glowing,, replace it

Flame does not come on

When the burner does not activate, first you need to find out if the ignitor is trying to light the gas. If it isn't then you have to troubleshoot the ignition circuit. If the ignitor goes active but the burner does not light then most likely it is the thermocoupler that is not allowing the gas valve to open.

Does it have a pilot light? the flame does not come on anymore

Gas dryers do not have a pilot light. They usually use a glow-bar type igniter which is located on the burner assembly. It usually takes about 30-90 seconds for the gas to ignite on these dryers. The reason for the delay is because the burner assembly is equipped with a gas safety valve that prevents free flowing gas from entering the appliance cabinet without ignition. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

The link is for a gas range, but the principle of operation and the type of igniters used is still the same. The igniter is the more common failure when it comes to gas ignition problems. More than likely you have an igniter that has become weak and needs to be replaced. Just because an igniter glows, does not mean it is good. It should only take about 90 seconds or less for the oven to ignite. If you've been experiencing longer ignition times, this could be the case.

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. Please post a complete brand name and model number as this will help in providing directions on how to access the dryer interior. I hope this helps you solve your problem.
