Hi,
That is really just for convenience...
They sell it as a package that is ready to install...
I have already removed the pressure switch from the pump installed them in the conventional manner...like a submersible pump...
The problem with that is that there usually is then no make up bax for the wiring, so you will have to rig something there...
You also will have to remove the fitting for the hose going to the switch and plug the hole with a pipe plug...

Other then that it will work just fine...

I have a 36 gallon utilitech water tank hooked to a 1/2hp shallow well jet pump my pump runs constantly and I think it's because my tank has no water in it any help would be greatly appreciated

do you have a pressure tank or what, are you doing a gravity type deal with a pump to back it up, all pumps need pressure tank too. or your pump will constantly be on or your tank fill hole is not tight a pump is designed to trip the breaker if it wired direct, if it is not wired direct like wired to an extension cord, then who knows what it will do burn up I imagine if it is constantly going on without water pumping thru it need more details

Well Pump Problems The Well Pressure Switch

If you have a water well pump then you also have a well pump pressure switch that controls the well pump. This little device can be very confusing. It also is known by many names. These may include pressure switch, well pressure switch, well pump pressure switch, water well pressure switch, well tank pressure switch, and many other variations. All of them refer to the same part that controls the on and off function of the water well pump whether it is a submersible well pump, a deep well jet pump, or a shallow well jet pump.

Some the problems that are most common with the well pump pressure switch.

  1. The contacts burn out and fail to conduct the current through them to the well pump. If you see the contacts are very black or even not there then you definitely have to replace the pressure switch.
  2. The contacts weld together and keep the pump on continuously. Sometimes after getting worn and dirty the contacts on the well pressure switch will just stick right together and not release when the pressure builds and then the pump will not shut off. Even if you can release them with a screw driver, after turning the power off of coarse, they will just do it again, replace the pump switch.
  3. Dirt will sometimes plug up the little pipe nipple that goes down from the bottom of the well tank pressure switch and delay the action of the well pump. This can happen even on shallow or deep well pump that have the pressure switch mounted right on them or sense pressure through a small plastic tube. Take everything apart and clean out so that the water pressure to the pressure switch is accurate.

This should give you a basic guide to the common problems you may experience with your water well pressure switch.

Also note that some well pressure switches have a small lever on the side that will need to be held up for a minute or so to start the well pump. This is a low water cut off protection device that will keep the well pump off if it runs out of water in the well or if it loses prime for some reason. Hold the lever up part way for a bit till pressure starts to build in the well pump pressure tank and then it can be released.

How to hook up a Water Workers vertical well system pressure tank HT86B to a Craftsman hydroglass convertible deep well jet pump 390.252283

You must have the pressure switch and some form of a Tee fitting. The Tee fitting shown is made especially for pressure tanks. It has the 3/8" side threads to properly connect the pressure switch, pressure guage, 1/2 or 3/4 thread for silcock and over pressure relief valve, and typically 3/4 or 1" inlet and outlet (where the ball valve is). I also recommend a union on either side so you can remove the tank without having to cut lines in the future. The order doesn't matter. Water will come up from the pump, building pressure in the tank (it has an air bladder inside), until the pressure switch cuts power.

Low water pressure how do i increase the pressure

The water pressure is adjusted with the pressure switch, which turns the pump on and off. The pressure switch is typically set for a cut-in and cut-out pressure of 20-40 psi, or 30-50 psi. Usually there are adjustment directions on the inside of the switch cover. But, there are several other factors that may affect the house pressure. If there is a pressure tank that is pre-charged, the tank pressure may need to be reset, or the tank bladder may be ruptured. Have the entire system checked out.

Do I have to hook my tank to draw water from my well?

A bladder tank is designed to give a certain amount of gallons of "draw down" before the pump turns on. The pump will work with or without a bladder tank but will come on every time water is used. Well pumps (Jet or submersible) can run for extended periods of time without causing harm to the pump, but a pump that turns on and off constantly will eventually burn out because it is so hard on the pump.
Jet pumps need to keep "head pressure" to efficiently create the vacuum necessary to draw water from the drop pipe, this is partially what a well tank does.

The pressure tank must have a certain amount of air in it so pump doesn't cycle as you say. The new pressure tanks have a bladder that separates air from water and keeps the pump from cycling so much. Make sure your pressure switch on the pump is OK--ie doesn't have burned contacts!

Why is the pump cutting in so much

Check your water pressure tank air pressure, turn off pump, drain off all water pressure and using a air pressure gauge check pressure at the schrader valve on the water pressure tank. It should be 2 lbs below pump cut-in pressure, they come factory charged at 30 PSI...works for most residential systems. Most likely you have a bad bladder in pressure tank.

Other possibles are a broken line between pump and pressure switch/pressure tank or bad pressure switch. If you have a pressure gauge on the water system(should have one near pressure switch) see if it is cycling at the right points if it is the switch is good. If pressure is dropping with NO water uasge in house you have a leak.

Most likely a bad pressure tank bladder is the problem.

Cabin pump, primed fine only goes to28psi and keeps running

Sounds like the injector nozzle is plugged. This nozzle is directly inside the influent line on single line jets and down in the well on two-line jets. I'm assuming you have it primed correctly. If this happened suddenly the it'd definitely the injector nozzle. It it was a gradual process over time then I would say it's either a badly worn nozzle or worn impeller.
