Question about Canon FAX-JX200
This may sound pretty pathetic, but I just bought my JX500 today and I've been trying to put in the ink cartridge. I can't see quite how to do it, there appears to be nothing to attach it to, despite the diagram indicating so. Could someone please give some specifics on how to do it?
Thank you very much
It is a little hard for words to be easier to follow than pictures, but I will try to help. The connection is not as "concrete" as you might be accustomed to with other equipment, a there is not a box-like holder to place the cartridge in. Below, the "head" of the cartridge is the end with the ink openings.
When you lift the printer cover and it locks into place, the cartridge holder will move to the far left side of the printer. The cartridge fits into the right side of the cartridge holder, and what you probably see in the diagram as a holder is actually a depiction of where the cartridge will end up when it is properly positioned. It actually attaches at the back - along the back side (the head) for the ink nozzles, and at the top of the back to a small piece that juts out and has a V-like projection downward that snaps onto the cartridge and holds it in place.
When you have taken the tape off, hold the cartridge with the head tilted slightlty upward, at about a 20 degree angle. (Be careful NOT to put the cartridge in with the head downward.) Using your left hand, your thumb would be just under the front outer edge (facing you), and your index finger on top. Slide it in slowly on the right side of the holder until the head comes in contact with the strip for the nozzles. At this point, the top should also be contacting the top piece referred to above, just behind the V-like downward projection.
Move your index finger to the top of the machine just above the back of the cartridge area, and use your thumb to lift the front (the side facing you) up until it clicks. You should feel/hear it snap into place. Then you can proceed to close the cover and go on with your use/setup of the machine. Hopefully this explanation will help you enough to be able to understand how to get the cartridge in, especially with the pictures to supplement.
