Question about Sewing Machines
Change the needle; it could be blunt, burred, or a ballpoint on a woven fabric would all cause skipped stitches. If you hand wind the machine through a stitch and can hear popping, or squeaking, its blunt, change it.
A sewing machine needle needs to be replaced after 4-6 hours of sewing, so a new one for each project is a good rule of thumb.
This means that you are putting in the right sized needle for the project too, not just using what was in there from last project.
Invest in a packet of needles in every size, ball point and sharps, microtex, leather, and denim.
there is good information on needles on http://sewing.about.com/od/sewingmachineindex/ig/Sewing-Machine-Needles/Needle-Sizes.--94.htm too.
