Volume icon missing

Which operating system ??

In Windows and on a Mac, you can use an icon shaped like an audio speaker to adjust the computer's volume or mute the sound output completely.

Whichever operating system you are running, it is possible to remove the volume icon from the screen.

If you have removed the volume icon accidentally, you may not have a convenient way to adjust your computer's sound volume.

Restore the sound icon to resume using it to adjust the volume or mute your computer's sound output.

Click the "System Preferences" icon on the dock.
If you have removed this icon from the dock, click the Apple icon at the top of the screen, then click "System Preferences."

Click the "Sound" icon in the "System Preferences" window.

Place a check in the box at the bottom of the window labeled "Show volume in menu bar."
The sound icon appears at the top of the screen.

The speakers built in won't work, I checked in control panel and it said that there was no audio device installed, what do I do? I have a NV4402u Model

If you see a yellow icon under "sound" on Device Manager then that means that your Audio driver was coruupted or damaged that's why it says that there was no audio device installed in control panel.

Uninstall/Reinstall your sound driver should do the trick.
1. Go to Device Manager
2. Highlight the corrupted driver of your sound card the one that has a yellow icon and then click the delete icon on the upper right hand side of the window (you can place your cursor on each icon on the top to see the delete icon)
3. Restart window in order for the changes to take effect
4. After restart windows will automatically installed the driver back

NOTE: If windows did not installed the driver back you can use the CD Driver that comes with your laptop when the first time you bought it.

1. Insert the disc
2. run the audio driver
3. Restart your computer in order for the changes to take effect

Hope this information will be helpful. Thanks for using Fixya.

SM BusController driver

Hi,

Windows is not recognizing the SMBus controller and needs the Intel chipset driver.

If you have backup media for your PC, look for the Intel Chipset driver on the backup CDs. You may also be able to download it from your PC manufacturer's website.

Otherwise, you can download and install the generic Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility.

After the driver is installed, you should no longer observe the exclamation mark next to the SMBus controller in Device Manager.

Hope this helps!

My proscesser is runing at 100% and i dont know if i have the right smbus controllers

even if you dont install your smbus controllers, your processor should not be running 100% all the time.  and if you install the wrong smbus controllers, your computer will usually restart all the time.
if you have a fast processor let say 2.2ghz and above. and it runs 100% all the time. you might have a virus infection. try running antivirus software or try reinstalling your operating system.

SMBus Controller for Intel T2080

Hi,
If you're using a USB network adaptor, you'll have to install the driver fro that particular model first.

But if you want to update your SMBus chipset controller, you can check out Intel's chipset support page:

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-013541.htm
If you click on the utility link, you can check all the FAQ's to make sure you get the right installation instructions.

Also, here's Lenovo software and driver page for the 3000 n100:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-63572.html#networking

Good Luck
