ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.

Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal.
Now is also a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots they will make a thumping type of noise or if there is too much wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3inOne oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

Loud noise when the dryer turns on

Well, sir, it is metal on metal, and you did well to stop it. Someone will be needing to take the whole thing apart and find the problem. It may be easy because the metal should show where it was rubbing because it will be shiny bright.
Be blessed.

My Frigidaire dryer FEQB4000FSO stops running and the lights blink after just a few minutes. What could be the problem?

Your dryer inside of it. The drum turns on two wheels and the drun its self has a belt around it the wheels are on each side of the drum on the bottom and have bearings in them that fail letting the drum ride on metal to metal making a scrubbing or dragging metal sound. This is what your problem is it is not an expensive fix but just make sure this is all you are charged for. Please rate my solution and leave testimonial this is how i earn my achievements Thanks in advance

Extremely screeching noise when running?

Screeching is the metal-on-metal contact of the drum touching the rear of the unit while
turning - there's a (usually) felt cover gasket over the circular depression at the back of the dryer.
When this wears through (after a number of years/loads), you get the screeching of
metal-to-metal contact.
Problem: friction can heat up the metal so much that the remaining felt gasket material (and/or
accumulated lint or clothing) catches fire.
Fix: replace felt drum gasket.
The Maytag Atlantis MDE6400AY electric dryer has a DuraCushion(tm) dryer drum, so I'm
suspecting the "DuraCushion" has worn out at least at one point in its 360-degree arc.

Dryer squeaking really loudly when drum turns. Heats though! Model FDE336RES2

its the plastic piece the drum roller rides in behind the drum in the center of the rear wall it wears down the plastic to the metal and starts screeching the drum either pops up and out of it or theres 3 philip head screws in the rear of the drum

Very loud metal on metal screeching noise maytag model LDE8414ACE

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Loud metal-metal "screeching" sounds will eminate from the front bearing glides, (click on link below), for a picture of the glides. Link provided by www.repairclinic.com, they provide repair parts, disassembly procedures and diagrams.
You may also want to inspect for foreign objects in the front and rear drum seals and in the blower.
Drum rollers may sometimes cause loud noises also.

Dryer turns and heats, but makes a very loud squeaking (or should I say, SCREECHING) noise. The heavier the load, the louder the squeaking.

Does it sound like a belt ?
Or does it sound like metal ?
Might need to replace the drive belt..
Or - it could be the bearings..

Hope this helps !!

Makes loud sound when spinning - seems like off track

The bearing is worn and now the drum support is rubbing against the metal mount. I do not know what type of dryer you have but my web page covers a lot of material. The dryer that is easiest is mentioned here, plus I have pages on your dryer as well.

LG DLE7177WM began making loud RuMbLiNg sound.

I have the same problem; pulled it apart and discovered the drum was cracked at the seam where it was welded. the noise occurs as it passes over the wheels the drum rests on. called LG's Cusomer Diservice and nobody was interested. found the same problems by others while searching myself so its clearly a manufacturing problem.
