Question about GE Washing Machines

2 Answers

I have a GE Front load washer WCVH6800. When I turn it on, I can hear the pump run, but it does not fill with water. (The water is turned on to the hot and cold lines). I turn the power button off, and the control panel goes out but the pump runs until it is unplugged. I have cleaned the pump filter and checked the inside pump hose also.

How can I verify it is a faulty control board before spending the $135?

Unfortunately, there was no service manual attached anywhere to the inside of this washer.

GE tech came out and determined door switch was sticking (E60), opted not to repair for now.

If the water is not filling the machine, then the water valves are the main culprit, although there may be other reasons. I am supplying a link to a web page that covers all these codes and reasons. It has pictures that can help with the parts recognition and diagrams that point out the parts involved. Should be an easy fix if it is only the water valve. Thanks and good luck on this. If you need any furthur advice or clarifications please let me know.

There is something wrong with the control circuit. THe pump should not run till the water level is up. The only sound that you should hear is the solenoid valves opening to let the water in. Then they close and the agitator starts and the pump starts. So it sounds like the control is stuck and not opening the valves to let the water in.

This is where it gets tricky. If you have a meter or a test light, you can use it to verify the control board is not putting out the right signal (electricity) at the right time. You would look at the wires and there is a diagram in the machine that tells what wires go to what things and you take the meter or the test light and touch it to the terminals on the control board and see if it is putting out electricy to the things that it is supposed to, when it is supposed to.

My GE WBSR3140D0WW top load washer fills, agitates but won't drain or spin

2 Possibilities. You have a failed drain pump, or the most likely, you have a clogged or obstructed pump or pump hose. it will n ot spin unitl the water level has reached a certain point. I have found socks in these. You will need to remove the front cover, slip a putty knife between the front cover and the top deck on the left and right side, push and at the same time pull the cover back. the drain pump is on the right side of the washer. If the pump sounds like its humming but not turning, there is something on the pump. If it sounds like its running, but no water being pumped out, then there is most likely an article of clothing stuck in the hose.

We have a GE front load washer WCVH6800. Recently we loaded some throw rugs into the washer. These rugs released a large amount of material. We cleaned the pump filter 3 times and it now seems clean. ...

The water inside the tub will drain out when the pump filter is removed from the pump housing and flood the base of the washer. If not, the tub drain hose is clogged preventing the water to drain into the pump housing then out.

The door is locked because the foam switch in the pressure switch is open due to the presence of water after the unsuccessful drain cycle.

Disconnect the washer from the power outlet. Remove the three screws holding the lower front access panel to the cabinet and pull the panel down to access the pump housing.

Squeeze the clamp that hold the tub drain hose to the pump housing and slide it back. Prepare a pan to catch the water to prevent flooding. The tub drain hose maybe difficult to remove and you may need to insert something under it to break the seal and pull it off.

Remove the tub drain hose from the tub by squeezing the securing clamp and pulling it off the tub drain outlet. Clear the hose and the tub drain outlet from any debris.

Reinstall the tub drain hose and manually unlock the door before reinstalling the access panel. Reach and pull the release ring behind and up the right side of the front panel, then open the door.

You have a float valve that works much the same way that the float in your toilet tank works, either your float is leaking, (full of water), or the valve actuated by the float is bad.

Cycles take too longon my GE Adora front load washer; the speed cycle is normally 30 minutes but takes 1.5 hours

It is probably the fill valve filter which is blocked or the drain outlet is obstructed.
You can clean the fill valve filter by turning the water off and disconnecting the hose ot hoses

There is a plastic filter just inside the valve which needs to be kept clean

If you have a slow discharge from the drain pump that also will cause the machine to take a long time on a cycle

Take the discharge hose out of the waste pipe clean the end and get someone with strong lungs to blow down it you should be able to hear air bubbles inside the machine if not then you may have a sock stuck in the pipe from the drum to the pump

Machine won't fill with water

Check that the inlet screens on the water supply are not clogged.
Make sure the water is for certain turned on (assuring nothing has changed).

If those are not found to be the problem, then it could be the fill valve(s) or the timer control.

Reply back what you find, and I can help you further.

GE Adora front load washer overloaded now won't start

Washers - Resetting Electronic Controls on a Washer

If there is a pause in the washer cycle, the controls will lock up. The pause can occur because of a power failure or it was put in the test mode at the factory.

Also, if the washer was stopped before the cycle was complete or the consumer has pushed the stop/pause button to temporarily stop the cycle and the cycle is not reset. Over a period of 24 hours, the washer will pump out and spin, but will stay in the final spin.

To correct the situation, shut off the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or unplug the washer, then turn the timer knob around and back to any position other than final spin. Verify the water is turned on and restore power. This should resolve the issue.
