Question about HP Photosmart C7280 Printer

1 Answer

My HP C7280 prints nearly ok. except, that is, that when printing my greeting cards, the printer appears to be printing before the card is fully positioned. In otherwords I am missing about 0.5ins off of the leading edge of each card and also a corresponding blank column on the trailing edge of each card, which is quite unacceptable!! any help please!

The problem centered around the fact that the HP209 would only print 8.5X11 sheets from Greeting Card Factory. Any other size seized up the pring spool.

We're going to return the HP (We think it's defective) and get an Epson.

I have an HP C7280 All-in-one printer. I was

Well, I took the printer apart(as much as I could w/o removing any screws)and copied something onto card stock. I was looking for any extra business cards that I'd missed. The copying worked. I then unplugged everything and took the printer off of it's stand. I then noticed a piece of plastic from the feed in the back lying on the stand. I somehow managed to get it back on the printer where it belonged and voila! the printer worked! Don't know if the plastic piece was the culprit, but at least the printer works now.

Printing a custom size card with a C7280,

There is a workaround for this problem by tricking the printer.
The paper sensor, on my printer model hp4500 seems to only sense the paper at the beggining of the print job.
What I did to trick the printer to print on odd size paper is slide the paper adjuster to 8.5 and put a regular white sheet in. Then put your odd size paper under it. When you print your document set the number of copies to 2 and print. The printer is going to sense that the paper is correct, and start the job.
Here is the tricky part... once the first 8.5x11 sheet is almost all the way through quickly slide the paper adjuster over to match the size of your odd width paper. The printer should pick up the odd paper and print the second copy. Fool you printa! You should be able to do batches of odd paper size under the first 8.5X11. I hope this helps.

When printing a greeting card the copy appears too low on page so one fourth of an inch is cut off on the bottom of the page.

On Printer press Menu button.

Scroll down to tools an press ok.

Scroll down to Align Printer and press ok.

The Printer will calibrate automatically.

Printing greetings cards and envelopes

At the moment it is printing both sides of Greetings cards, but this printer appears to be very sensitive with regards to placng card in the exact position in the paper tray.

Why it will not print envelopes without smudging I still don't know, so I shall just have to write address by hand after I place graphic on the envelope

This 5300 was a Christmas gift from my wife and if I could afford to change it I would. The performance is very dissapointing

Kindest Regards

I would guess its a software issue with the program you are using for greeting cards.
