Question about Maytag MDE4806 Electric Dryer
Welcome to FixYa.
I should be able to assist you, but first let me ask a couple of question's in relation to your post. When you said "runs for about 30 seconds and then shuts down".
1) If you attempt to start immediately after it quits, will it start?
2) If you open the door and hold the door switch closed (pushed in) and start the dryer, does it still cut out after 30 seconds ?
It's relevant to the motor and door switch. I want to find out if it is cutting out on the thermal overload or otherwise. Your reply will help determine that so I'll watch for your post.

this sounds like a clogged vent more than a thermostat. go outside with the dryer running and see if hot air is blowing out the vent. if not check outside vent for birds nest etc, inside make sure the vent is straight any dips in vent could cause water to build up clogging the vent. try this first if it doesn't work write back
