Question about Olevia LT42HVi 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

LT42HVi 42 in. LCD Worked fine one night the next day only a black screen. The blue power light is on when plugged in, when I turn it on the blue light goes off as normal and the screen does change as though it's going to work then it remains black and also I can hear sound fine. I can use the remote to change source as well. I bought it in Summer of 2006. About 6 months after purchase I had it under warranty and they replaced the main board that slides in and out with the A/V inputs on it. I had that spare still so I plugged that in to see if anything different would happen because that board created a messed up looking screen but still created visualizations. Nothing different happened so I believe that eliminates that main board. I opened it up and looked at the power supply and did not see blow capacitors or anything out of the ordinary(but i'm no expert). I looked at one of the back light boards and it appeared fine but still not sure what to look for. With the back taken off I plugged it in and the 2 backlights on each side came on(so I assume they work fine?). So i'm not sure where to go from here. Appreciate any help. Pete

You need to check and see if the backlight inverter board is getting the 24vdc from the power supply.
