That is not what it is. The electronic control ,as Sears calls it, is located on the motor or stators. It is all plastic with sensors to it and snaps on the motor some how.

  • henryslaught Apr 06, 2011

please E-mail pdf for the Kenmore Elite Oasis model number 11027087602. How to mount the electronic control on the MOTOR. What you e-mailed me is close but not what I am speaking about. Sears Schismatic calls the unit a electronic control.

Welcome to FixYa.

I'm pretty sure I know what you're referring to and in fact I can explain what needs to be done to gain access and repair's pretty easy once you see how.

First I'll confirm it is the RPS sensor you're referring...I think it has to be since there is no other "control" located down there.

It will look like this...
need to know how to - macmarkus_480.jpg
We can go about this two ways, I can guide you step by step on "how to" both access this and repair it, or I can send you a complete service manual for your washer, it's up to you. Whatever you think will best serve you.

You will need to provide an email address I can attach the "pdf" service manual to if you decide you indeed want it. I'll watch for your post and we can go from there.

Thank's for visiting FixYa today. Good luck.

    Hi Henry,

Thank you for the reply. I realize sears calls it a control ( I am a sears technician coincidentally ) but the unit is actually built by Whirlpool and that is how they display the part with sensor "kit".

That is just a different image that what you may have seen...or the image doesn't illustrate the sensor well, but according to your model number and the part number 8565188 from sears that is the control on the rotor.

The reality is it should actually look similar to this...( it's the best image I have on my net-book, though I have actual images on my home PC )

If you want to reply one more time with an email address I'll send the service manual for you.

    Thanks again Henry.

Yup, that's what I've been talking about, I know these things inside and out. You'll see it in the service manual.

I can also send you the updates regarding your washer...specifically the rotor if you've experienced an F51 at any time, but I'll need an email address as I mentioned.

You can also find the illustration at "" by entering your model number. As I said there is only one item referred to as a control, and it is the RPS sensor. If you key in the part number I provided earlier (8565188) at " you'll see the image I provided...that is how it is sold.

I'm curious now as to why you're replacing this item to start with. I'll watch for your post for an email address or the direction you want to move in.

I will be at my home PC if you want me to just post instructions here with'll just require more time.

    Thanks Henry.

    Hi Henry,

Not sure where you're at with your repair, I haven't heard back from you regarding an email address to provide the service manual.

Anyway, to service the RPS/Hall sensor or "electronic control" as it is being referred to is as follows.

    1) If possible find a secure wall to lean the washer back against (as shown below) and preferably block it for security...we don't want it coming down on top of you.

    2) You should now have clear access to the rotor, stator and wire harness to the RPS/electronic control. It's a good idea to pull off the wire fasteners from the tub to allow the stator to drop down later...they simply pull off by hand as shown here.

    3) loosen the center bolt (1/4" allen wrench) for the rotor and pull the rotor off as shown. It will be tight and offer resistance due to the large magnets on the rotor.

    4) with the rotor off and set to the side you can now remove the stator for access of the RPS/electronic control as shown here...

**The gray cover shield on the stator simply sit's in place, you'll observe once removed. On top of the stator you'll see the control in question.

    5) Simply remove it and you should be able to lay the complete assembly on the floor to work on if you unfastened the wire harness mentioned in step 2.

    6) Pry off the old control with a small screwdriver as shown, carefully as it only is held with plastic clips.

Note the wire connections and now install the new one.

Reverse this procedure to install the parts and you should be back in business. Let me know how you make out Henry or if I can assist you in any way going forward. Good luck.

Also thought I'd include the info I alluded to in an earlier post regarding the Oasis repair tip from sears which suggest checking the wires to the RPS and then the rotor, while insuring the center bolt is really tight via applying some "lock tight".

This is in relation to persistent issues of the "F51" error codes common with these washers, and also the #1 reason for these sensors and main controls being (many times needlessly) replaced.

Here's an exert from my files...

Im looking for the automatic defrost control location for a Frigidaire. Model # FRS6HR5HSB6, Serial # 4A80118247. My refrigerator compressor has stopped working for about 14 hours. I think it is stuck in...

If your compressor is the only motor not working, meaning you also hear no other noises at all, advancing the defrost control out of defrost MAY solve your problem. However, if you do hear other motors running, then your refrigerator is not stuck in defrost, and advancing the defrost control will not help. But to answer your question, if you have a mechanical defrost control, and not an adaptive or electronic defrost control, it will be located behind the toe grill under the freezer door. If there is no control located there, then you likely have an electronic control, located inside the fresh food compartment, mounted along the top left side, contained within the housing. But if it is an electronic control, you will not be able to force it into refrigeration, as it is electronic.

I have a corner jet tub, I need to know where the rubber hose goes on the motor from the switch. Please

The rubber hose usually goes on the back of the black box located on top of the motor. There is usually a nut that comes off, the hose goes through this nut, the hose then fits on the small nipple in the center of where the nut was removed. Slide the nut up to the box and tighten finger tight to hold the hose in place. If there is no box on the pump. follow the electrical plug from the outlet, sometimes the control box is mounted on the tubing or side of the tub.

The belt fell off of the drum, i have the front off but i dont know where the disconnected pulley goes.

Unplug dryer or disconnect power.

Locate mounting slots in front of motor. (In some cabinets, there are two sets of slots for mounting the idler assembly. In this case, mount the idler assembly in the slots that line up under the grooves in the motor pulley.)

Install idler assembly into cabinet base by hooking mounting tab (A) into 1⁄4" wide mounting slots and setting mounting tabs (B) into the 3⁄16" wide mounting slot.

Make sure belt is around drum, with grooves down.

Route belt through the idler and around the motor pulley.

How do you operate the motor? I have no details as to how the motor operates. Its a minn kota trolling motor that mounts on the front of my boat. I need to know how to operate the foot peddle.

The pedal has generally four functions:
1) Forward and back on the pedal make the motor go left and right (push forward to turn the motor right, push back to turn it left)
2) Momentary power - the little 'button' towards the top will engage the motor as long as you press down on it.
3) Selector Swith - on the side of the foot pedeal there is a switch with the following settings Con - Off - Mom (Continuous - keeps the motor going all the time, Off - well it's off and Mom - will only go when you press the momentary button).
4) Speed select - the knob on the left controlls how fast the motor goes.

It takes some getting used to but offers tremendous control and hands free operation!

1996 crown victoria has no heat

the temp blend door may not be rotating from the a/c evaporator to the heater core opening.

Could be the motor on the blend door or the temp control knob.

Do you have manual a/c or electronic temp control?

If it's the a/c door electronic actuator motor, it's on top of the plenum. Have to remove the instrument panel for access.

Hope it's the temp knob on the control head.

top one is the circuit you are looking at
