It sounds like your door seal is getting old. Check all the way around the door seal for air leakage. You should be able to trap a dollar bill in the door seal without it moving. Check particularly thoroughly where you have more ice. If you find your seal is going bad try heating it slightly with a hair dryer and see if you can get it to seal up while it is malleable. Good luck.

The freezer and ice maker are not working properly I have a side by side fridge freezer

Check your freezer temp. If it is not 10 degrees or less the icemaker will not work.

And if the temp does not go below that you have a problem with your cooling unit - perhaps the defrost cycle is not working and you have ice accumulating in back of freezer. Check for that.

Refrigerator is not cooling

Could you look and describe in detail? There are MANY possibilities. Assuming plugged in and thermostat not turned off. Do you hear anything running, any fans? Have often seen ice accumulation due to doors not fully closed or bad defrost timer or temp set too low or food blocking air flow in freezer or refrigerator - (easiest is unload food, open doors, wait a day or 2 for ice to melt), have seen dust accumulation stops air flow through cooling coils - this is usually under refrigerator. Thanks and good luck, Bill

Freezer side is working, but frige side isn't cooling?

Probably a defrost problem. I would suspect that the freezer is not as cold as it should be, even though it still freezes ice cream.
It could be air circulation, so make sure you have not packed the freezer or refrigerator too tightly and blocked the cross over vents.

To check if the problem is the defrost system, look in the louvered vents, or around the fan, to see if there is thicker accumulations of frost/ice on the cooling coil.

Refrigerator and freezer not cooling/freeding

Possibly a defrost circuit problem -

1) Bad defrost thermostat
2) Bad defrost heater
3) Bad defrost timer
4) Failed evaporator fan motor.

Look for frost accumulated inside the louvers at the back panel, top and bottom. If you see it, remove food from freezer and put in ice chest. Take out shelves, get hair dryer and warm the backside of the freezer, directing air down the louvers. Then leave to sit for 4-6 hours with the freezer door open. Put towels in the bottom of the freezer to catch any melted ice.
After period of time, plug unit back in and power the unit back up. Once you know it's cooling, empty ice chests back into freezer.

If there is a problem in any of the above components, then it will show up in 3-4 weeks witht he same problem again.
