Question about Fujitsu LifeBook N6420 Notebook

1 Answer

Fujitsu N6420 upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. Ran fine for a month or so until it hung in middle of automatic Windows update. Now can not boot from hard drive or CD--gets to Windows logo splash screen and hard drive light goes solid, machine locks up. Suspect SATA drivers. Any suggestions?

If you still have the install disk you can put that in, hold F12 as the computer is booting up, and choose to boot from CD. The setup disk has a repair option that might fix the problem.

Can not boot from hard drive or CD. Even booting from the Windows 7 Professional CD it gets to the splash screen and the drive light goes solid and the machine freezes. That's why I suspected SATA drivers. By the way, this is 64 bit Win 7.

If are blaming the updates you can remove (uninstall) them. You can also restore your system to a point before the updates you think are causing the problem. If Windows finds updates you can select which to install. Reject all hardware related updates.

WINDOWS 10

WARNING: Backup your files and make a system image if you are converting to Windows 10 - especially if you have Windows 7. Windows 8.1 seems to update nicely but not the other older systems as Microsoft promised. Hold off a few months, if you have not upgraded just yet. Improvements are on the way. I had serious issues with my Windows 7 32-bit system going to Window 10. What is strange is drivers and software ran fine on the OS (and motherboard) under Windows 7 but under Win 10 things came crashing to a halt. Such a shame. So please take note.

How to Replace Bios? Boot & Reformat Attempts Hang (on every HDD) - I guess BIOS is Corrupted

You can go to the manufacturer web site and go to support then to drivers and downloads there should be a BIOS flash software utility at their site. Click Here to go there. Select your model and make sure it is the correct one. I would also go for the automatic driver update, this will find and seek any drivers for your laptop that are needed, missing, or upgrade them.
If that does not provide the info you need their is also a support number as well as live chat at the link above. I hope this assisted you in some way. John

I need to change the langauge on my acer aspire one from english too spanish.

To install a different language - Multilingual User Interface (MUI) - you need to have Windows 7 Ultimate.

Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate
Type Anytime Upgrade in the Search programs and files box in the Start menu and click on the Windows Anytime Upgrade icon. From there, you can buy an Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. Then your can enter your Anytime Upgrade product key and perform a simple upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate so you can install a different language.

If you are in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US you can use Anytime Upgrade. If not you will need to buy Windows 7 Ultimate, or buy Windows 7 in the language you need.

You should enable automatic updates, this should download all updates to windows xp up to service pack 3 and all security updates. If you wan't another version of windows (vista or windows 7) you must buy and upgrade retail disc.

it more than likely has little to do with the operating system. It sounds like a hard drive problem. Are you able to format the harddrive and reinstall?
