Here is a link to the HP website, which details step by step on resetting the device....
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=28234&prodTypeId=18972&objectID=c01920018

Here is a copy and paste of the process:

  1. Perform a Semi-Full Reset on the HP All-in-One or Fax device by following the instructions below:
NOTE: Performing a Semi-Full Reset on the HP All-in-One or HP Fax device may imply the loss of some information (like Speed Dial settings or TCP/IP network values) previously saved in the device memory . Note down this information before resetting the unit and re-enter it again later.
    1. Make sure the HP All-in-One or Fax device is turned on.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the rear of the HP device.
    3. Press and hold the # and 6 keys on the HP All-in-One or HP Fax control panel, and plug the power cord again on the rear of the HP device. Wait for five seconds before releasing the keys.
    4. If the HP All-in-One or HP Fax turns off, press the On button on the control panel to turn it on again.
    5. Follow the instructions prompted from the control panel display to configure the Language and Country/Area settings, and to complete cartridges/printheads alignment.
Hope this helps..... Vote "yes" if you found this to be helpful.... Thanks!

My printer ink is full and it just printing in black and yellow

The ink leaves the ink-cartridge, and should flow through the ink-jets to be sprayed onto the paper.
If some of the ink-jets are clogged (blue, red) and some of the ink-jets are fine (black, yellow),
then you need to run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to try to unclog those ink-jets.

Brother MFC-290c printer does not print black anymore. Test print page color ok but not black printing. What is the problem?

The problem is either:

* out of BLACK ink -- replace the ink-cartridge

* clogged ink-jets -- the ink is not spraying onto the paper, so run a few print-head-cleaning cycles

* dead electronics -- not triggering the jets to spray ink, so replace the printer

Printer does not print in color but only prints in

Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" -- the ink inside the cartridges is not getting through the ink-jets, and is not reaching the paper.

Either that, or the electronics inside the ink-jets are malfunctioning, i.e., not telling the ink-jets to shoot the ink out.

Need help: our HP officejet v40 will not print.

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

My HP 5610 is printing extremely slow.

Very simple solution: The cartridges still have ink in them but printing is very slow. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a wet paper towel and wipe the print head on each one until the ink flows from each head. Usually it is the color cartridge because it is used less than the black one. Once ink is flowing again, reinsert the cartridges into the printer and your normal printing speed will return. This worked for me, no thanks to the "experts" or trouble shooting guides..

Prints extremely slow

It seems that you are trying to Print High Resolution Pics. Thats why you are getting prints slowly.

Try reducing the Resolution of the Pic or setting the quality of print to Normal in the Print Preferences and your speed will increase for sure.

Ink has run out message

Ink not made for your printer has risks. 20 years as Canon rep taught me this. Yields: are affected by resolution, type of paper, condition of print head, condition of ink jets, all ink jets and lasers are mfg'd under lisence to Canon. You have the best! Anytime supplies are cheaper, something is left out. used cartridges usualy leak air and drip ink ck for stains under print head. cartridge has used blotter also drips. Cheaper cartridges contain less ink, no free lunch. Fill it yourself 1 or 2 times and do it right. Put the printer in your shower for twenty minutes if you see excess leaked ink. Allow to air dry for a few days then install new cartridges. Run all the Nozzle checks and print head utilities. Touch nothing else on the inside. This will fix it or f@#%k it up for good

HP OfficeJet V40 Won't Print

You Need to change the Ink Carttridge. it has either Dried from lack of use or you have run ou tof ink.

you may need to clean the Jets as well a simple Q-tip with some rubing alchol would work.

You could also try the Printers Cleaning Utility, but either way you'll need to replace the cartridges
