The drum cleans itself. Usually they have a cleaning blade on them which can wear out after useage.

It could be something else going on as well. After printing if you look at the drum is that any toner on it?

Do not try to clean the drum. The drum and its asociated cleaning blades and other parts, are COMSUMABLES that have a certain useful lifespan, the same as batteries or automobile brake pads. When smudges appear on the drum, it and the associated parts are at the end of their useful life. Order a new IMAGING DRUM KIT from www.dell.com

Hello,

Please refer to this tip I wrote about how to go about this for another printer in the same category as yours.

Your manual should give you information on how to disassemble the printer as much as possible.

Regards,
Worldvet

I'm getting a black line through "some" of my printed pages, any ideas on what to check to resolve this issue?

Look into how old your imaging drum is, if its been a while. replace it to clean up the image. these can be purchased at your local office supply outlet for your model.

Dell 3100cn at bottom of page there is like a gray bar extending across the bottom of each page

The printer could be causing this mark because of extra toner built up on the drum or fuser. A cleaning by a certified technician may fix the problem. I would first change the cartridge to make sure it is not a faulty cartridge causing the problem.

Cleaning the Dell 3000 CN

Dell 3000 CN has no printheads, printheads are on inkjet printers, this is a color laser.

On a laser there is nothing that you can clean with a software.

If printer is not printing replace toner cartridge or try reinstalling drivers.

If printouts are dirt, then the printer must be manually be cleaned inside, see Clean your laser printer safely with these tips

Drums

In the first two months (2 years ago) I had to replace the drum 5 times because of a printer design problem - causing streaks on page. Now 2 years later the printer reports that the drum is full of waste toner and must be replaced.

I'm trying to clean it and reset the NVRAM instead.

DELL 3000cn Printing Problems

switch off the printer then switch on again whilst holding the UP and DOWN menu scroll buttons simultaneously.

Then you can go to a TEST PRINT area and print off pages of idividual colour.

If the streaks appear on ALL prints its likely to be the laser unit. If the streaks only print on the COLOUR sheets ( not BLACK) then the problem lies with the drum or the transfer belt.

Remove the drum and turn it manually with the gog at the side and give it a clean with a soft LINT FREE cloth, do the same for the transfer belt and then you may have to run a few test prints to get it all reprimed but you should be OK.
