Verify the part number by following the advice in the link below. You will need the entire model number. At the site referenced, you will also find a parts breakdown that should help you to properly replace the trigger. When replacing the trigger, also check the O-rings.

I have a Bostich coil roofing nailer #RN46-1 leaking air at trigger area when depressed. Replaced trigger assy but same results. Anything else it could be?

Sounds like your gun needs servicing. normally strip, clean and usually fit new O rings to head valve assy, piston & usually sleeve.

New nailer double firing and jaming

Some trigger valves (tva6) are sensitive (defective?) however there are some things you can try to change how the gun acts. I have noticed that the brand of oil has an effect on the orings. Some brands will swell the orings, I like Paslode nail gun oil. Do not wash the gun with gasoline or wd40. Use diesel. Change the nail depth setting one position. Lowering the air pressure will make a difference. I find that most operators use too much pressure. A stronger safety spring under the trigger will separate the trigger and firing pin quicker. Finally you could use single fire trigger. Good luck

Bostitch RN46 will not fire nail, only releases air when trigger is held and firing tip is touched to surface of material. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Gun will not fire if air is leaking past orings in head /headvalve or safety /trigger is not pushing trigger pin all the way into trigger valve. Test: Remove trigger to expose trigger valve pin. Remove nails. Place nose of gun against thick rubber mat or coiled rubber hose to absorb blow of driver. Very quickly and deliberately press trigger pin all the way in. If gun fires, safety foo or trigger is not pushing trigger pin all the way in. Make adjustments or replace worn parts. If gun still does not fire, remove head and pull out headvalve. Apply lots of silicone paste lube on the orings and the surface of the head where orings make contact. Reinstall head and test as above. If the gun fires then orings were leaking. Replace orings and sand any scratches on body of cap with very fine sand paper. Parts are at www.toolpartsdirect.com Good luck

When I connect my Bostitch N12B to air the plunger/driver will activate completely and not retract. It will then cycle in and out about 1/2 inch continuously. This happens regardless of the trigger or...

Air is leaking past the cylinder seal and trigger valve orings are loose. The seal is no longer made by bostitch however the seal from CN55 max nailer will fit. This seal is sold thru some ebay dealers. You could try a trick I use to get more life out of seal. If seal top surface is smooth without cracks, cafefully remove with breaking and clean inside surface of seal and where it sits on cylinder. Apply a light coat of RTV sealant inside of seal and place onto cylinder cleaning off access sealant. Replace head and do not use gun for 24 hours or less depending on required drying time of sealant. The trigger valve is a TVA6 also sold on ebay in a generic form for under 20 dollars. While gun is apart take a look at the upper bumper at center of headvalve. There should be no cracks and it must be flexable. This part will usually turn to wax and crack, if marginal just replace. Good luck

Hello 2 of my bostich rn-46 nail guns will not fire in the morning after working the day before. What causes this. thanks mike L.

There can be a number of reasons for this. A little more info is needed though (See below). This symptom can be due to a lack of lubrication, the plunger being stuck and not in the fully retracted position, etc.

1) Can you hear any air leaking anywhere?
2) Can you see the location of the plunger (drive pin)?
3) Is there any reaction to the trigger? WIth the trigger held, and hitting the roof, is there any air release or anything at all?

Thanks,
Dan

You did not list your model number, however most bostitch nailers use the tva6 trigger valve. As this valve wears it will be erratic. Examine the firing pin that makes contact with trigger. If it looks worn or wabbles from side to side, then time to replace. To remove valve first remove trigger by removing roll with 3MM punch. Next remove one or two roll pins just above the valve, also 3mm. With roll pins removed air pressure will pop out valve. Be carefull because valve can come out with force, use glove or rag to catch. Parts available at www.toolpartsdirect.com, or generic valve at www.ebay.com. Good luck

I have a bostitch ridge runner that leaks air badly out of the trigger and wondering how to take out the plastic trigger in the gun. Also what would be the cause of the air leak

The air leak can be one of a few things. FIrst make sure that you have added some pneumatic oil to the air stream. This will lubricate the o-rings and make a tight seal. If that fails to resolve it, repalce the o-rings. (kits available for around $20). Next, woul dbe the trigger assembly itself. These triggers wear over time and are easily replaced.

See the website below for parts and a good diagram of the construction of the gun. You should be able to replace the parts by following the diagrams.

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/bostitch-parts-c-29443.html?gclid=CO6tkb2y6KICFciA5QodOlL9xg

Please note that the exactmodel number is required to get hte correct diagram.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Blows air out of trigger

I assume this is a Bostitch tool and if so there is a broken o ring on the trigger valve assembly that needs fixed. Go to Bostitch.com with your model number and you can buy it online. If other than Bostitch give me the model number and brand and I will try and find a breakdown.

Framing gun not firing leaking air aroung trigger

You have a crumbled trigger seal. You can order a new trigger valve through bostitch. It usually takes a couple of weeks though.. Every time I order one it is on backorder. You will need to order trigger valve kit part number TVA11 $21.40. Go to the Bostitch website click on Schematics and Parts to the left then find your model nailer in the search field and select item 53 when the parts list comes up. Click add to cart to order. Another screen will pop up and ask you if you want to checkout. Any questions please post back.
