The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

Once the pictures have been transferred to your computer, you can attach them to email the same way you attach anything else. The exact procedure depends on the mail client you're using.

My canon a580 no longer makes a noise when i turn it on or take a photo, how do i fix that?

If it's broke, I don't know. But here's how you change the settings. Press the display botton, then right to tools, then down to volume, then right, then select the sound you want and increase the volume.

I need the software to connect Power Shot A580 to computer

You can download drivers and software from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a580#DriversAndSoftware

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

I have a Canon Power Shot A580 i just want to erase some photos from the camera thats it

Put the camera in picture review mode. Then use the zoom to bring up thumbnail diplays. Use the up/down, right/left buttons to navigate to the individual picture that you want to erase. Then press the "trashcan" button on the back of your camera. Select yes when it asks if you want to delete this picture.

Alternately you can delete all the pictures by again selecting picture review mode, pressing "menu", then scrolling to "erase all" pictures.

I have a new canon power shot a580 and have used a kodak 2gb memory card. I started with an empty card, took approx 30 pictures and then "memory card error" shows up on my little screen. I can't retrieve...

Did you format the card in the camera first to initialize it? Use a card reader to download any pictures on the card to a folder you create on your desktop. Then, format the card in the camera.
