This is difficult to answer, as you did not mention what you are working on. So, I presume house lights and 110 volts.

TURN OFF THE POWER. There should be three wires going to the light, black, white, and ground.

The black wire is the power wire and it is what gets cut and the switch installed to connect the cut black wire.

If you have any question, get an electrician to do this, as electrocution exposure is what you risk.

All lights need 2 connections. A Positive (+) and a Negative (-). If you cut just one
of these and put your switch inline you will be fine. Most often the Grounded wire
is switched so that if the switch shorts out, there wont be a dead short, that could
damage the electrical circuit of the device. If ground shorts to ground, it's no problem.
If Positive short to a Negative Ground-Big problem. Since this is an electric saw, most
likely the chassis is grounded. Also, this may be a set of AC (Alternating Current-just like in your house)lights. The same switch install should work here also. Here is a quick diagram of how to wire up
either 1 or 2 lights. Sorry it looks rough but it should work for you.

Radio wiring code for 1987 mercedes benz 300. With aftermarket radio the windows switch ligths blinks and have no instrument ligths.

Hi, the aftermarket stereo does not use the illumination wire. You must tape that wire off (purple/gray). That wire is either connected to the wrong place or is touching chassis ground and causing your instrument lights to dim.
Connect the stereo's red wire to the car's black/yellow wire; and connect the stereo's yellow wire to the car's red/white wire.

Electrical fan connection

Firstly, yes the fused spur should be earthed. You should wire from the fused spur to the fan L,N & E.

Your light switch should be in line on your light live supply wire.

If you wish to use the light switch to turn on the light and fan at the same time you should also run a live switch wire to the fan L1.

This should FixYa.

Please remember to rate this solution.
