Mine wasn't picking up stuff either. After unplugging the unit, I had to take the yellow top off--unscrew the two screws that are hiding in the 4 indentations on either side. After removing that "hood" I then carefully lifted up the left side of the roller to free it of the belt. A middle piece came out too, which I carefully set aside with the screws. Then I had to clean that whole roller--including prying off the ends and cleaning the debris out of everwhere--so gross.
Then I restored the caps to the roller, threaded the roller back through the belt, turned the roller to make sure the belt was in straight alignment, put that middle piece back, restored the yellow hood, affixed it with the two screws, plugged the whole machine in, turned it on, readjusted the height, and voila!

I've replaced the bag, but the machine will not pick up dirt; there is no suction.

Hey, this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Miele Vacuum. There are a few things you can check to restore suction to your vacuum.

1. Your suction setting is too low or the automatic setting is not registering properly.

2. The filters are too clogged. They need to be cleaned or replaced. Without proper air flow, your vacuum will have either decreased or no suction.

3. Vacuum hose is not air tight. If the hose or any other portion of your vacuum is leaking air it will diminish or completely abolish all suction.

4. The roller is clogged. If everything else has failed, flip over your vacuum and check the roller. If it is too clogged with hair and debris your vacuum will not be able to pick anything up. Simply remove the gunk and try starting up your vacuum again.

You can purchase replacement parts for Electrolux direct from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

HV9010P ROLLER BRUSH DOESN'T MOVE

That is probably the belt. Open up the bottom screws and take a look. The cat or dog hair usually gets stuck in the ends of the rollers and stops the belt from effectively pushing the roller. You may find that the belt is still on the drive and the roller. If you do just clean out the roller.

My Bissell BS3920F upright (similar to the 10N6F) has been working wonderfully for the past 3 years but suddenly seems to not pick up dog hair as well as it used to. It has been pulled apart by my husband...

Check to see if your brush is not worn down, they do wear with age - compare the length of the bristles with a new one. Replace the brush ir there is a significant difference in bristle lengths. Also check the flexible bend where the pick-up head joins onto the upright section for blockages and fluff.

I have a kirby g4 vacuum that is 12 years old. it sounds like

About once a month as I have German Shep dogs and cuz of the hair I check all the hoses to make sure they are free of dust bunnies. I also take the bottom plate off the roller, turn the lever to losen the belt and take the roller off. Clean/cut all the strings, hair etc off the roller , check the belt for cracks and burns and replace if need be. Put the roller cover back on, and reconnect the belt.

Then on the side of the machine where the bag attaches, this also slides out to clean. Sometimes heavier items will get stuck in there so that dog hair and larger items cannot pass to the bag and it clogs. This will make your suction very low.

Also a good check inside the bag compartment and clean with the attachment hose if need be, helps a great deal with ordor and dust when turned on. Especially if you have dogs/dander and hair. Ive also put carpet fresh inside my bag to keep the doggy ordor down.

Dyson o7 animal pick up problems

Hi.

If your machine is A few years old it may need new brush roller fitted.

To check roller for wear lie machine on the floor & pull back head end as if vaccuming carpet.

Now get A rule or straight edge hold this over brush roller & sole plate oppening.

Now rotate brush slowly by hand the bristles of the brush should just kiss the edge of rule. If ther is a gap you will need toreplace the roller.

Lift-Off Pet Hair vacuum doesn't lift off pet hair!

very light "stuff" like dog hair will get stuck to the filter since that is where the suction goes. it's primary purpose was to keep dust out of the motor. This is a problem with many "bagless" cleaners. A bagged cleaner keeps all dirt and hair away from filters by utilizing the bag as primary filter. If you have alot of dog hair then this may have been the incorrect choice of a vac. all you can do is brush off the filter each time you use the vac. it will still pick up o.k. even when there is hair on the filter unless you leave it on day after day.

Belt not turning

It could well be the dog hair. You'll need to remove the roller brush and completely clean it off with the hair which sounds like it has wrapped itself around the brush and the brush end washers. Check that the entire roller brush is completely clear and if any dirt is found at the sides, remove it.
