Make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or the drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps

Hi. How to find files/Doc was format in HP Pavilion dv6

This kind of problem sometimes happens if the operating system files to start up on your laptop hard drive get corrupted. See if you can find instructions on youtube to take the hard drive out of your laptop, or see if there is a screw that holds it in your laptop. You will need to purchase a USB to IDE/SATA cable adapter to connect your laptop hard drive to another, working computer. Once the screw is out, and you remove the laptop hard drive, then plug one cable (IDE/SATA) into your hard drive, and the other end (USB) to the second computer that is working. You will also need to connect a power cable from your laptop hard drive to a separate power supply that comes in the USB to IDE/SATA cable kit. When the cables are connected, if your hard drive is usable, you should be able to see all the files from your laptop hard drive on the second computer. Now, you can copy them off before reinstalling your operating system/formatting your original laptop hard drive.

How do I replace the hard drive in my ThinkPad 2656 Notebook

Hi saggitar,
I would like to help with the removal of your Hard drive from your R31 Thinkpad Laptop, please see steps below.
  • First turn your Laptop OFF.
  • Flip it over to see the bottom of your Laptop.
  • Your Hard Drive will be located on the side of your Laptop just across from where the battery is.
  • You see that there will just be one screw to release the Hard drive, unscrew the Hard Drive it should be free after unscrewing it, pull it out of the Laptop.
  • After pulling the Hard Drive out of the Laptop you can just pull out the Hard Drive cover from the Hard Drive.
  • Now you can install your new Hard Drive to your Laptop.
  • Make sure the the Hard Drive is inserted the correct way, look inside to see where the Hard Drive connector will be located that is how you will put the new Hard drive in the bay.
  • Putting it back is just reversing the steps we did to remove you Hard Drive from the Laptop.
Note: Do this on a clean table no liquids or anything that may get in the Laptop causing Blockage or damage to your Laptop.
I hope that this will be of help regarding your concern, have a nice day.

Dell d600 latitude laptop

Hi

Dell Latitude D600 can only accommodate one internal hard drive. You can however install a 2nd Hard Drive as a drive module.

Check the picture below. The HDD Drive Module fits in in place of the CD/DVD Drive.
