The connection from the oil line into the radiator has failed. Sometimes it can be repaired, but it's best to replace the radiator entirely. As it has become contaminated, as has the heater core. I can tell you this ... Saturn's are a bear to work on, but if your handy with tools and have some experience working on cars, you can probably do it. A Chilton Repair Manual for your model Saturn could prove invaluable in accomplishing this repair. You can pick one up at any national chain, auto parts store.

Good luck!

Has anyone ever had water in the reservoir of an radiator mixed with oil in a 4 cyclinder 1998 saturn engine I had the head gasket changed and everything flushed but now I see water in the radiator.

Oil in the cooling system can come from two places. First is the head gasket or from a crack in the cylinder head. Could be residue from previous failure...If so, cleaning it out should get rid of it.
If your engine oil has any coolant in it or you are overheating or loosing coolant, though the job was just done, head could be cracked or warped. Second place oil can come from is the transmission cooler in the radiator. (automatic trans only) If it fails trans fluid (oil) will get into the cooling system. That oil is red in color and usually easily identified. Only way to fix that is to replace the radiator, but be sure it's that before buying one.

What oil should i use for my 96 saturn sl2

The engine on a 1996 Saturn SL uses SAE 5w-30 engine oil. The recommended oil-change interval for this engine is every 3,000 miles or three months, whichever comes sooner.
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Does the trans cooler exist inside the radiator on this V6 engine/auto trans combo? I found a brown foam in my 2001 Saturn V6's coolant overflow tank. It was so thick, i could not read the coolant level. ...

hmmm..........there is a OiL COOLER tube for the transmission cooler in ur radiator, that to keep ur tranny fluid to cool down!

As u said, u checked the engine oil, and it has no decrease on oil level!

Ur right about that... better bring that to ur mechanic and evaluate the radiator, the tube inside might have been damage or corroded!

Hope the seals up ur probs!

If there is one, look at the lower part of the radiator on left side as you face the vehicle. Out of all the vehicle I own only 1 has a drain valve on it and most of the time it is clogged from road splash and dust. You can remove the lower radiator hose either from the Radiator or the engine to drain the radiator.

What kind of oil filter does a 1996 saturn sedan 1.9L need?

Go to walmart auto section. they have a book there which provides this info. If you can't read, go to a parts store and the salesman will look it up for you for a higher price. any oil change place will also have these in stock. All saturns 91-99 had the same L4 1.9L engine with the same filter.
