No, all that's available are disassembly diagrams.Looks like you have a bad "inverter'. Thisis a small circuit board (about 1/2inch by 4 inches) located inside the screens plastic case in the area just above the center of your keyboard. It has two small cables connected to it(one on each end). You'll have to take your screen off the laptop by the hinges and then open the screens plastic case with a small screwdriver.
Opening the laptop enough to get to the screens hinges is usually a job done by experience, since every laptop has a slightly different hinge mechanism and procedure for accessing them.

My back light in not working. how do i change the LCD backlight on a gateway MT6728

It is probably the inverter that has failed. That is located either directly beneath the LCD screen or at the mother board end of the LCD feed cable.

Why is my Gateway 4028GZ screen black

The display on this laptop is backlit. What that means, in a nutshell, is that the image on the display prevents the output from a constant light source (the back light) from showing through, thus giving a usable image on the screen. From your description, the backlight is no longer operating. This can be an issue with the LCD display panel, the backlight power module, our (less likely) a power trace on the motherboard. Repair would likely cost as much or more than replacing with a used laptop and just transferring your hard drive. If you choose to replace and swap hard drives make certain that the interface on the new laptop is the same as your Gateway's.

My laptop screen went very dark, I can barely make out whats on the screen but I know its working. What can I do to fix this situation on my gateway p-6860fx pc notebook?

Hi josue fernan...
You need to see if your laptop lcd screen is faulty and/or the lcd inverer is faulty.
1....Test the lcd screen:
Hook your laptop to an outside monitor and then start your laptop normally...if the picture on the external monitor is good, then your lcd screen is bad.
2....Backlight Faulty: If the monitor is still as dark like your lcd screen on the laptop then it could be the backlight that is faulty.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

WHEN COMPUTER STARTS I GET A BLUE SCREEN AND THEN IT REBOOTS

A very dark blue screen on a laptop that otherwise appears to be "on" is a sign that the backlight on the screen portion of the computer may be burned out. You can test this by shining a flashlight on the screen. If you can see your desktop icons, the backlight is burnt out. Replacing a bad backlight is not a do-it-yourself task unless you are comfortable doing delicate electronic repairs and have the design schematics for your model in hand. Your safest course of action will always be to take the laptop to a professional repair depot. There is one alternative repair option available if you're not comfortable doing surgery and a trip to the repair shop is not in your budget. Replace the entire screen module, case and all.

Doing Surgery Yourself

1.Remove the battery from the laptop. With the laptop model schematics in front of you, use the small Phillips screwdriver to separate the monitor from the laptop base. The schematics will indicate how to uncover the monitor hinges and free the monitor. Handle the screen gently because it will still be tethered to the base by a group of wires.
2.Remove the plastic case covering the "power bar" on the upper part of the laptop keyboard base. Refer to the schematics to find the way to release this cover and lift it off the keyboard. You'll see a group of fine wires leading back to the monitor. Unplug this cable so the monitor is now free from the base.
3.Follow the schematics to remove the casing covering the monitor screen. Be forewarned that the design of a laptop monitor "under the hood" is complex and delicate. Don't force anything. Don't experiment. Take frequent photographs of each successful disassembly stage so you can have some hope of getting it all back together again correctly.
4.Find the slim fluorescent backlight instrument behind the glass layers of the screen. Unplug it from the tiny cable receptacles and remove it. Insert the fresh backlight fixture and reconnect it to the cable plug.
5.Restore the screen assembly and the casing using the schematics and your reference photographs. Plug the screen back into the laptop base at the power bar. Don't reattach the screen hinges to the base until after you have tested it by booting the laptop. If the test is successful, turn the laptop off and connect the screen to the base unit at the hinges.

Alternative Repair

1.Purchase an entire screen-and-case assembly for your laptop make and model. Many intact assemblies are available online for reasonable prices. You will usually pay slightly less for an entire screen-and-case unit than you would for a professional repair on just the backlight alone so this could be an economical alternative for you. You can save even more money by purchasing as "Used but Good" unit, rather than a new unit.
2.Remove your old screen following the previous section's Step 1 through Step 3.
3.Plug the new screen-and-case unit into the laptop base. Follow the schematics and your photographs and thread the monitor wires through the hinge passes. Restore the power bar cover.
4.Test your replacement repair by booting the laptop. If the screen looks normal, shut off the laptop and reattach the new screen to the base at the hinges. Restore the hinge covers.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

Gateway M-1631u screen keeps going to full backlight power

Connect an external monitor to your laptop. If it the image is ok on the external monitor and bad on the laptoop screen it means one of more of backlight/inverter/screen is defective. Have it repaired by a professional.

Yes you should try ito adjust the brightness.
Can you see a slight image on the LCD, screen this indicates a backlight problem?
You can connect an external monitor to the video connector on the laptop, then boot it up and see if the is a display on the external monitor. You may have to press the blue Fn + one of the Function key so you can switch the video output to the external monitor. If you get an image on the external monitor then the video card is OK and the fault is with the LCD backlight. This could be a faulty inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or the CCFL lamp is faulty, 80% of the time it is the CCFL lamp that is faulty.
The inverter is easy to replace, the CCFL lamp requires a lot more work and requires soldering skills.

Go to www.lcdparts.net for parts and/or repair service and DIY info.
