Security alarm goes off every 15 minutes for no apparent reason

Hi Gregg, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Gregg, several things can cause a car alarm to go off. One of the most common reasons is the alarm switches which are mounted to doors. under hood, trunk. When these switches go bad OR get corroded from water, can cause the alarm to go off with just the blowing of the wind moving the car. Check this by pushing on each door and see if the alarm goes off. Also push downward on the hood and trunk. Even door adjustments can cause the issue, because if a door is not tight it can move and set the alarm off. One other thing is sensitivity, the alarm box can be going bad and the slightest movement of the vehicle can set it off. Check out my auto-repair website and the testimonials:

Car alarm keeps going off

Check your fuses. If it's an aftermarket alarm, it should have it's own fusebox. Just follow the wires from the alarm itself and you should run right into it. What kind of alarm is it? If it's not the fuse, then you have a short somewhere in the wires, or the sensitivity is set too high and I've had a problem with a motorcycle alarm where the sensitivity was set too high and a gust of wind would set it off.

Why does the alarm in my car go off when I try to start it with the remote car starter?

If this is the vehicle's factory alarm that is being triggered then your factory alarm must be disarmed prior to the remote starter sequence. The Autopage unit has a factory disarm wire available for this purpose. When the alarm triggers again try turning the key in the driver's door to see if there is a factory disarm wire available in the vehicle or if the factory alarm is RF disarm only. If it is the after market alarm that is being triggered then you made need to decrease the sensitivity.

My bulldog Model 2010 Alarm is too sensitive and

I got this from their website.

Adjusting the Shock Sensor Sensitivity
To adjust the shock sensor, disarm the system, press and hold Button #3 (Finder) until the alarm chirps four times
(approximately five seconds), immediately release the button. Tap your vehicle’s hood above the alarm at the sensitivity
level you wish. The harder you hit the car the less sensitivity the alarm will be. The alarm will then chirp three
times. The shock sensor is now set at this sensitivity. Any shock that is equal to, or greater than this sensitivity,
will sound the alarm. Set the sensitivity as often as you wish; however, the sensitivity level will remain set until
the battery is disconnected or you reset it. If you do not tap the car it will automatically go to maximum sensitivity.
This setting is only acceptable if the car is parked inside a garage. NOTE: The factory setting on the shock sensor
should be acceptable for most vehicles.
