Usually, this is a problem with the power supply. Try changing the current power supply with a new or working one. Also, check if all the cables are properly inserted. If the problem persists, you may have a defective motherboard.

Hi, please consider that you have an issue with power supply of your CRT. Before checking any possible active components on it, first check the power switch. Then proceed to check power capacitor in the power supply.

Black display

You say black display. Not sure what you mean. Either the monitor is working or it is not. If you see nothing on the monitor and the power light is yellow, then it is not getting a signal.
If the power light is green and you see nothing, look really closely. You might even shine a flashlight at the monitor to see if there is actually a dim display. If so, the backlight has gone out and needs to be replaced.
I'm assuming that you have tried to brighten the display with the monitor controls.

Black screen

At this point I believe there are failed caps in your monitor.

This is very common in all LCD monitors. Did the tech just push the power switch off and on?
From my experience at fixing broken monitors of all brands, I think it is the power supply problem.

Emachine w3507 blue light only comes on fan runs nonstop, no signal or monitor, pressing the f8 did nothing

If you get nothing but a blue light and no video at all it sounds like you have a bad power supply. They are easy enough to check and replace but not for a first timer. If you know someone who knows more; get a volt meter and put it on the DC scale. Unplug a power plug to a drive or find one that is not used. Measure the Yellow to black and then the red to black wires. You should get 12 & 5 volts respectively.

Your problem is usually caused by a bad power supply. You should be able to do the repair yourself, if just requires replacing 6 capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows how to disassemble the monitor and repair the power supply board.

Compaq Presario SR1030NX fails to start

Sounds like the power supply or motherboard is biting the dust. U may consider power off, open case and clean out the dirt, check U'r connections and if the power supply smells, replace it.
Else replace the pc. When the power supply dies, it usually stresses the motherboard out and it dies later, sooner.

Acer al1714

The problem may not be the monitor. Acer AL1714 is known for its weak power supply unit. Unplug power supply from monitor. If the green light on monitor comes on but goes out quickly, the power supply is the culprit!

NO PICTURE

Bad power supply. The light is green when it is not plugged into the monitor because there is no load on the power supply. When you plug it in the monitor tries to draw current, nothing the PSU can handle now, so the light blinks. The PSU can not provide the amps that the monitor needs.

Get a new power supply, you can find them on ebay. Just make sure the voltage and amps match. It is ok to buy a power supply with a higher amp rating, the monitor will only take what it needs. Also make sure the power plug that plugs into your monitor matches.
