I don't have as much information as given above but will tell you what worked for me. Tools needed: A couple old towels and simple pair of pliers.
After my wife showed me the HF code repeating on the read-out and saying that the wash cycle would not begin, I did the following:
1- Pulled the machine away from wall for easier access
2- Turned off both water valves and noted the hose connections. This was easy because it is color coded. (I also pulled the electric plug for safety but not sure this is necessary)
3- Disconnected both hoses from washer connections only (not from the taps) Have a towell handy to catch the drips from hose.
4- Inspection showed the cold water screen (filter) going into the washer to be clean. The hot water screen was heavily obstructed and limiting the flow of hot into the washer.
5- I scrapped the screen gently with a blade of my small pocket knife to remove the crud on it. Emphasize gently so as not to damage the filter. This went slow and so I sprayed small amount of "Lime Away" on it and this seemed to help get the build up off easier. I got it looking real clean.
6- Re-connected the hoses to proper connections. Careful of the plastic threads on the stubs. Make sure to not cross thread and force the hose on as the plastic threads could get damaged.
9- Snug up the hose threads, turn on the water valves, and check for any leakiage.
10- Place electric plug back into outlet and give it the test. Mine workded perfect and has completed a couple of loads without any more codes or problems. Note that I put some old "car towels" into the washer for the test run to soak up any of the "lime away" that I didn't want my wife to get on the real clothes.
Good Luck. I hope your fix was as simple as mine and not involved as mentioned in the detailed list of possible other problems by the experts.
11- Replace the washer and move on the the next honey do.

"FH" is defined as a "No Water Detect" error code. This is an indication that have no water, or very little water being detected coming into the washer. The following link explains the error code and steps on how to troubleshoot:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608753-fh_error_code

The problem may be as simple as a kinked or clogged inlet hose, or an issue with one of the washer sensors. Check your inlet and drain hoses to ensure you are supplying the washer with sufficent water and/or don't have a siphoning problem. Eliminate the easy options, first, before assuming you have a component malfunction.

NOTE: Each one of thes washers comes with a technical data sheet inside. The tech sheet lists all error codes, troubleshooting information, wiring diagrams, diagnostics procedures and illustrations. To access, you need to remove the lower toe panel directly below the door. The screws are located under the bottom front edge. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down and can be removed. If the tech sheet is not located dorectly behind the toe panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls. I mention the tech sheet, because you may need to refer to it in order to accurately isolate this particular problem.

If you have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

hf error stands for hot water not being detected, make sure both hot and cold water are open and not reversed. if unit overfilled and flooded garage, the is if with you pressure switch or pressure hose. remove to lid of machine and you will find pressure switch and hose to the right side, inspect hose for any pin holes, if ok, order pressure switch

Peace Friend,
ngafm At your service!

With an error code the only way to find and to repair this is,

First unplug the washer and wait a few minutes then restart it like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
If it corrects the problem GREAT!!! WE WIN!

If not only a trained laundry tech can make the electronic diagnoses.
Like we used to be able to fix my own cars, but not today they need diagnostic equipment!

How old is the washer?

If the appliance is 10 years old or more you it may not be advisable to put good money into bad!
New appliances are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy!!!!
Water,Electric and detergent! And put money back in your pocket!
The new appliance will pay for itself in only a few years!

You will be fine
Bless You ngafm

Error Code HF. What do I do to resolve this error. The machine has clothes in it and they are soaked

Please refer to the following link for a full explanation of the "FH" error:

I know the instruction says Whirlpool and Kenmore model washers, but I believe this fault applies to some Maytag models as well. Read through the link thoroughly and if you still require assistance, please let me know. Rule out the easy possibilities first.

"F/H" this indicates that either have no water coming into the washer, or very little water.

If you have NO water coming into the wash tub check the following:

- Inlet water valve may be clogged. Clean inlet screens if necessary.
- Make sure water taps are on (not trying to insult your intelligence, but I've seen it happen).
- Check inlet hoses for kinks or clogs.

If you HAVE water filling the wash tub check the following:

- Make sure you don't have a siphoning problem. Click the following link for intructions: http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

- Verify Drain Pump operation.
- Verify flowmeter operation.
- Verify the Pressure Switch hoses are intact and connected properly.

UNPLUG the washer and take the lower panel under the door off by removing the three screws under the bottom edge. HINT: Propping the front feet of the washer up can make access much easier. I use a couple small blocks of wood. With the screws removed, the panel should drop down then come off. If it sticks, tap either side and it should come free.

There should be a tech sheet directly behind the panel or attached to one of the interior cabinet walls that explains all the error codes and how to troubleshoot. It also explains how to perform diagnostics and where to locate certain components.

I hope this provides you with some aanswers. Please post back if you can't find the tech sheet and/or need further assistance.

This code means its not getting a sufficient water supply. I was doing a cold wash and noticed it was sucking down some hot water, so shut off the hot. MISTAKE, after a little bit the HF code came up. Apprently it likes to decide for itself just how cold is cold. Darned Computers.

To make a short story long, when I shut off the hot, it apparently shredded the washer and sent the remnants down to the little filter thingy at the washer itself, whereupon they reassembled themselves into a clog, once again giving me the HF code.

(Check your user manual Troubleshooting section. I think it says to press Pause/Cancel twice)

HF signal code

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too. Height of exit hose should be approx 3 feet from ground level.

Rate me pl.....if helped.
