Central heater wires melting at disconnect. can someone please help?

Over heated wires can be due to high current or from a loose connection. If from high current, then the entire wire will melt along the whole length. If the melting is only near the disconnect, then the connections at the disconnect are suspect, or the contacts within the disconnect are bad.

Cutler hammer 60 amp non-fusible disconnect... looking for instructions or a diagram to install

You connect the two hot wires from your power source to the two lugs in the. On the other side of the disconnect you connect the two hot wires to the A/C unit to the other two lugs. You tie the neutral wires (white) together and insulate them. You ground the ground wire to the box and run a ground wire to the AC unit.

So, you should have a red, black white and ground wire on the supply side to your disconnect. The red and black are your hots from your main box to the disconnect. They go on one side of the disconnect. The units red and black go ont other side. You connect the neutrals and ground it and you are in business.

Don't guess, because you are fooling with 220 Volts AC which will knock you silly.

I have a Jenn-Air CCE3401 Electric Cooktop I want to remove. How do I disconnect the wires from the cooktop? In other words, how do you get inside the cooktop to disconnect the wires? Disconnecting...

Firstly turn the power off. Lift the cooktop out from the benchtop and lean it against the wall. There will be a small panel where the wiring terminates into the cooktop. Remove the panel and disconnect the wiring to the cooktop. Ensure that you insulate all wires properly. You can then turn the power back on if you need to.

Were is the connector to disconnect for ignition timing 89 gmc sierra

You have to disconnect the brown wire thats on the firewall. It disables the computer controlled advance and allows you to set the base timing. Disconnect SET TIMING connector (tan/black wire) located in harness close to distributor. DO NOT disconnect 4 wire connector at distributor.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck, set timing is O".

Keeps flashing PROTECT when switched on

Check all of your connections very carefully. If all seems well, disconnect one wire at a time, then power on after each wire is disconnected. Alternate between power off (remove a wire) then power on. If the PROTECT comes back on, reconnect the one wire and then power off. Disconnect the next wire, power on, and see if the PROTECT comes back on. If so, reconnect that wire and continue until all of your wires are checked. If at some point after disconnecting a wire and powering back up, the PROTECT does not appear, that wire you just disconnected is the culprit and needs to be replaced. Even a single strand of speaker wire crossing to another opposite polarity (speaker wire) or input can cause a fault making the receiver "PROTECT" itself. Although it may be tedious, it is effective to trouble shoot this way for the first step. If you want disconnect all wires from the receiver and then power on to see if it does it independently of any other connections. I hope this helps and good luck.
