What box should i use for alpine swr-12d2

What size box does this sub need in a sealed box & a ported box. If you have room use a ported box that fits your subs. Probox & other brands may have the perfect box for them. I would tune the box to 40hz if you like loud tight bass.

I have 8 alpine dvc type r 12s, should i port them or go with a sealed box.

depends what kind of car they are going in and what kind of sound you are going for.
generally speaking ported boxes are louder, if you choose this i would recommend filling box with poly-fill.
non-ported boxes get deeper bass and hit much harder. no matter what set up you choose a good quality box that does not flex is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT. you will want the wood to be at least 3/4" thick and the correct cubic feet.

What to do

well i don't know your budget, but if that's not really and issue, right now at best buy, alpine type E, 10" subs, peak is 750w and rms is 250w, each is 129.99. Alpine type R, 10" subs, peak is 1500w and rms is 500w, each is 199.99. These are the best subs i found at best buy. You could sell your current subwoofers and purchase those, and you'd save space and still get the lows you want. Goodluck

Hello i have a ken 9152d amp trying to get it to pull 2 alpine typ r 10" subs in sealed box made to alpine specs and they sound like **** i have doubled check wiring at 2 ohm and all is well there but you...

Just because the box is built for those subs doesn't mean it works well in your car. it's all about airspace if its in a sedan trunk try facing it towards the back of the car it will give it something to bounce off. If the box has one tiny pin hole it can make a BIG difference make sure it is sealed well. Make sure your positives and negatives are going to the right places on the speaker wire that can cause weak sounding subs. did you bridge the amp because that could be an issue also.

What size enclosure (sealed)for Alpine 12"1242D(METAL Music)

  • 12" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
  • Kevlar reinforced pulp cone with Santoprene™ rubber surround
  • cast aluminum frame with perimeter venting
  • frequency response: 25-500 Hz
  • power handling: 200-500 watts RMS (250 watts per coil)
  • peak power: 1,500 watts
  • sensitivity: 85 dB
  • top-mount depth: 7-5/8"
  • sealed box volume: 0.57-1.0 cu. ft.
  • ported box volume: 0.75-2.0 cu. ft.

  • For rock, i actually have 2 seperate 12's in slot port boxes i built facing forward. Facing forward reduces a little resonance and spl, but keeps alot of that annoying rattle off your tag lol

    Hope this helps :)

How to wire a stereo system

Connect the 2 gage to the battery thru at least s 50 amp fuse, then connect the capacitor in line before the amps. Then run the 2 gage to a connector/splitter block and run 4 gage leads to each amp. You also will need at least 4 gage ground leads from each amp to a body grounded bolt or screw. You need to run a quality set of speaker leads from the head unit to the amps. The speakers will need separate leads from the amp to each speaker. You will need to try some different combinations to get the sound and bass you want. You want to be able to fade from front to rear and control everything thru the head unit.
Use a hole saw to cut a 2 to 3 inch diameter hole in the side of the speaker box for a port to get a better punch from the sub.
    Hope this helps some....
