Forgotten log in password

Which system do you use?

On windows xp, try this:
Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It'll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

If that doesn't or you use windows 7 or vista, try this:
1. Enter a computer that can link to Internet. Download Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 and install the software on that computer.
2. Run the software and create windows password reset disk by follow the instructions.
3. Eject the created CD/DVD and insert it into the locked computer.
4. Reboot the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your locked computer's BIOS setting to make it boot from CD drive) and then follow the instructions to reset your password.
5. Now login Windows and set a new password.

Forgot Windows Password - How to Reset the Password without Admin Rights?

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Problem:</span> "<a href="http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com/forgot-windows-password.html">Forgot Windows password</a>? How I can reset it without admin rights? On my Windows 7 machine, I created 2 accounts. One is an account with admin rights, and the other one is a limited account (standard user account). Now Windows is not recognizing my password for the administrator account. Can I reset the administrator password via the standard user account? Or is there any other way to reset the forgotten administrator account password? Please note I never created a password reset disk for the administrator account."<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Solution:</span> As for the above question, the answer is no as users cannot reset another account password via a standard user account. In my opinion, the most effective and simple approach case is to use a powerful Windows password recovery tool like Windows Login Recovery. With this password recovery tool at hand, you easily reset administrator, standard user and guest passwords by yourself if you forgot Windows password. Besides, it is very safe; no data will be lost after <a href="http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com/reset-windows-password.html">Windows password reset</a>.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How to reset forgotten Windows password?</span><br /><br />If you decide to use Windows Login Recovery when you forgot Windows password, you need to find an accessible computer, download and install the program in it. Once it is set up, run it and burn a password reset disk with a blank CD/DVD. Then you follow the instructions below to reset forgotten Windows password with the burned CD/DVD.<br /><br />Step 1. Insert the burned CD/DVD in your locked computer.<br /><br />Step 2. Press F2, Delete or F10 to enter BIOS Setup when the computer is booting.<br /><br />Step 3. Set CD-ROM as the first boot device in BIOS.<br /><br />Note: You could click here to view how to set the first boot device in BIOS. The computer will restart automatically after saving your BIOS settings. And you'll be able to reset forgotten Windows password under DOS.<br /><br />Step 4. Enter the NO. of your Windows installation path to display all its account user names.<br /><br />Step 5. Enter the NO. of a specified User Name to remove its account password, then enter y to confirm and continue your operation.<br /><br />Step 6. Enter n to finish your operation when the selected windows account password is removed.<br /><br />Note: If you want to remove another Windows account password, please enter y. And you'll repeat the previous steps to reset another account password.<br /><br />Step 7. Remove the burned CD/DVD and press any key to restart your computer when you enter n to finish your operation.<br /><br />Now the operation is finished. Windows will not ask you to enter a password when you log on to your computer. Don't you think it is easy? Never feel frustrated when you forgot Windows password with this method.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Why cannot use standard user account?</span><br /><br />Are you confused that why you cannot reset the administrator password by using the standard user account? Well, you need to learn what a standard user account is.<br /><br />According to Microsoft, a standard user account is to let a person use most of the capabilities of the computer, but permission from an administrator is required if you want to make changes that affect other users or the security of the computer.<br /><br />When you use a standard account, you can use most programs that are installed on the computer, but you can't install or uninstall software and hardware, delete files that are required for the computer to work, or change settings on the computer that affect other users. If you're using a standard account, some programs might require you to provide an administrator password before you can perform certain tasks. So if you forgot Windows password, you could not reset the password by using a standard user account.

I brought a dell gx280 but I don't no the admin password can get. It and change it?

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

Restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

if this fails to remove your password

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password
also
if you are not the computer administrator and have not assigned a bios password during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there also click start control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control can change the password there

hope this helps you

start a windows xp system up n safe mode then click on control panel ten user accounts then the specified user which is password protected and it allows you to change the password without knowing the original one.

Restart the computer. Repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears. Select the Safe Mode option using the up and down arrow keys

then press the ENTER key. Choose "Windows XP Home/Professional" depending on the version of the operating system. Press ENTER. Shortly, the welcome screen should show.
Log in as "Administrator"

Click Yes to not use System Restore Mode.
Click the Start button. Choose Run and type in "control userpasswords" (without the quotes). Click OK

Select the "Administrator" user.

Click Change my password. Enter a new password in the corresponding text boxes.

Click OK. Write this password down and store it in a secure place. I do not recommend that a password hint be used.
Close the User Accounts window and restart Windows.

hope this helps you

I was given a compaq computer running Windows XP. It boots up to a previous user and is looking for that user's password. How can I reset password or access administrator account?

I would suggest you to try the following :

Boot the computer in safe mode.
Press F8 while booting the system, It will give you Windows Advance boot option, Select Safe mode and press Enter. You will see two accounts, Administrator and the Previous User's . Select the Administrator. If it allows you to log in, go to control Panel, User Accounts and delete the previous user's account and create a New user with your name. Reboot the computer in normal mode.

Hope this works. Please let me know if you need further Assistance. Your comments and ratings are highly appreciated.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

Computer wont boot properly

A POST diags card can help you resolve your problem/s, if not then.
1. remove all devices and insert the floppy drive, one RAM module and video card.
2. Go into the BIOS configuration and set it to the default configuration, check the installed RAM is it correct? .
3. Insert the remainder RAM module/s and check the POST info and BIOS again, has it detected all the RAM?
4. Does the computer Boot up using a floppy boot disk
5. Insert the CD and hard disk and check the POST info and BIOS configuration, does it detect the new drives?
6. Does the computer Boot up using a floppy boot disk, run FDISK, can you see the hard drive, if so delete all partitions (if any) and create a new primary DOS partition and then format the hard drive.
7. Boot up with the Windows CD (may have to change the boot order to the CD as the first boot device).
8. Delete the DOS partition, create a primary NTFS partition and the do a full NTFS format (not a quick format) and continue to install Windows Xp or Vista.
9. Install the other device eg modem, Lan etc. and the drivers.

If you have trouble with the first 5 steps, then you most likely have a faulty motherboard and/or a faulty hard disk.

Forgot password to computer

Try logging in to your admin user through safe mode. Mostly, the admin user will not have the password set.

Powerup password don't know bought at yard sale

Power up your 'puter and press f8 to enter windows in safe mode. When it boots into safe mode go to your start button... select control panel.. and find user accounts . Enter and make yourself a new user account.. select administrator account . Close and and reboot the computer. Select your new user account and it should boot into windows. Go back to user accounts and you should see your account.. a guest account.. and the account of whoever owned the computer before you . That account will say password protected. select delete user account and click on the old users account . Windows will say it will delete the account and all files of the user. if it asks select ok and be patient . It will be a few minutes as windows deletes the account. Do a final reboot and the old account and password should be gone.
Good luck.
