Sounds like you have a valve sticking or a safety switch causing it to shut down. Does this unit exhaust first then the burner ignites that might be your issue

short on HV wire or electrode. >> remove HV wire from electrode and check spark from end of wire to frame, if its ok, then electrode porcelain might be cracked.

Hotpoint oven will not light

Do you have spark? If yes, do you know if you have gas when it is sparking? It could be a solenoid valve, control box or electrode issue, or just simply some dirt or grime on the burner or electrodes.

I have an electrolux EOG6330 gas oven and when I light the grill the igniter continues to spark,the only wayto stop it,is to turn the grill off.Any body know what causes it and how to sort it?

Hello dishboy,

There are 2 possibilites causing that

1) The electrode(spark plug) for the grill is is built up with a bunch of grime and not telling the spark module the burner is lit and turn off the spark. The electrode could be cleaned with the green srubby side if a kitchen sponge,or relpaced.

2) The electrode is telling the spark module to turn off but the spark module isn't responding, to turn off the spark. The spark module would need to be replaced

I hope this helps,

Gene

I have a Thermador SGCS204R cooktop. The rear

Well first you need to verify that it is getting proper gas pressure to that burner. Try lighting the burner manually with a match. Does the burner look normal? If the burner flame is really small then you will need to remove the burner head and check the orfice for a restriction. If it looks normal then it probably is a weak spark from the igniter, igniter electrode is out of position, or burner head has dirty ports at electrode causing no ignition. Inspect the burner head. If it is removable then take it off and clean out the burner ports(eyes) with a sewing needle. If it is not easily removable then try doing this while it is still installed on the range. Also try using a wire brush on the electrode to clean any carbon/debris build-up casuing a weak spark. You can also try bending the electrode slightly with a flatblade screwdriver(be careful don't break the elctrode) away from the burner creating a larger spark.

The bottom oven on my stoves cooker ignites but then constantly clicks and will not stop until the gas dial is switched off. Can any one give me a clue as to why? Thanks

As an ex stoves enginneer, the problem may be one of three faults;
1. cracked electrode, what creats the spark in the oven
2.electrode lead has melted.
3. faulty ignition generator.
Try takin the lead off the electrode and placing it in the oven flame, if this stops the clicking, then replace the electrode.
