My phone is connected to the pc, the bluetooth sees it, but the pc suite will not find it. I am trying to install a sis file. Is there any other way to do this? Thank you!
First thing you have to ask is if the .sis file is compatible with your p990i. A lot of files out there says it is but it isn't realy. If it's not compatible with you phone, then it wont upload or install. The best way to check if you hardware/software settings are ok is to install a java app via pcsuite. If it installs ok, then the sis file is not compatible and there is no way to force the phone to install it

This process erases from your Nokia 9300 all of your user data and
settings, including your phone book, calendar, email, downloads,
recordings, and certain factory installed programs such as Instant
Messaging and BlackBerry Connect.
REMEMBER: Create a device data backup or synchronization before formatting.
You can restore device data and settings later. See the Nokia 9300 User Guide for further instructions.

* Remove the battery for 10 seconds

* Open the Nokia 9300 to view the inside display
* When you see the screen with "NOKIA" in blue text,
* Press and hold the following four keys until a Format Message is displayed:
CRTL + Shift + F
* Confirm the process by selecting Format
* Formatting will begin
* After formatting is complete the Nokia 9300 will reboot with some
basic settings. If prompted, accept the request to reboot

(1) You may choose to install the file above using Nokia PC Suite.
Please see the Nokia 9300 User Guide for general instructions to
install software using Nokia PC Suite, and follow those instructions
instead of Step 4 above.
(2) CAUTION: The .sis file above is ONLY intended for use with a Nokia
9300 with the appropriate software version. DO NOT install this file to
a Nokia 9300 with any other software version. DO NOT install this file
to any other model device.
Unfortunately it will then block you when you try downloading on your phone. So when it appears click options then 'start' to start any download. If you still get an error message as 'Invalid descriptor', then you should install 'LG PC Suite' on your PC (Url: http://www.software112.com/products/lg-pc-suite+download.html), connect PC and phone through USB or bluetooth, then download the file in .jar format on your PC, then upload it to your phone through PC suite under 'Manage files'. You can then install the jar file directly when you select it in 'Your Stuff' on your LG Viewty.
Now, the likelihood is it is NOT your phone(s). Just try connecting
it to your PC as normal. If you get the same problem, turn the PC off,
disconnect all your gear and turn your computer off AT THE MAINS. Leave
for HALF AN HOUR, this takes all the discharge away from the
motherboard. Boot everything back up, and connect your phone. You
shouldn''t get any problems
try this.. 1. open LG PC suite, connect your phone to PC,let the PC suite find your phone.. 2. open your device manager and check if there is an exclamation mark beside the devices listed there including your phone. 3. once you find it, right click that device, select update driver, select yes this time only. 4. don't select install the software automatically, select '' install from a list on a specific location'', click next. 5. tick the search for the best driver on these location. 6. untick search from removable or floopy, tick include this location on the search, 7. click browse and point out the windows to the folder where your programs was installed by default, C:\Program files\LG PC Suite\drivers
Hi, Most of the mobiles will prompt the user to select the mode of connection when connected to computer such as "Mass storage mode/data transfer mode" and "PC suite/modem mode". If you select the "Mass storage mode/data transfer mode", then only your mobile phone's memory card is connected to your system just like pen drive. so only the pictures present in momory card can be accessed. For transfering pictures from phone memory, try the following methods, 1. Go to your file manager in mobile phone, move the pictures from your phone memory to memory card. 2. Install proper PC suite for your mobile, connect to system in phone mode/modem mode/pc suite mode. Then using the PC suite file manager in your system, oyu can access files stored on to phone memory as well as memory card. 3. Connect a bluetooth dongle to your system, establish a bluetooth connection to your mobile. Threw bluetooth file manager from your system, you can browse the phone memory of your phone. I hope any of the above tips may solve your problem.
search for usb drivers and if it still doesn't work you have to go to service with it ( they have "the magic box" - setools 3). if your phone works good JUST DON'T UPGRADE ! p990i has a very bad software even in the last version and they quited making new software for this phone.
i had the same problem as i have got windows vista but go to settings on your phone then phone settings and connectivity thenusb connection then just change it too mass storage .. so then everytime you connect your phone to the computer it should come up sayin ''import photos, view photos'' ect... scroll down untill you see view files an they should up be there :)
it works for me
What do you mean by "format" ? Is it the way to install or file formats supported by P990? You can install the software by transferring jar/sis/jad from your pc to your mobile and then install. I think you can install application using the PC suite also.
