Question about Frigidaire FEX831CS Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer

Open Question

I have Frigidaire Combo unit - FEX831. Dryer has intermittent squeek (loud, shrill) I took most of it apart and cleaned all the lint and crud collected in all sorts of places and oiled. The unit is only 3 yrs old. Actually had the drum off (didnt mean to). the squeek got less noisey but is still there. Where is the rear bearings and how do I replace them. I had the drum off (3 center screw removed) but did not remove it from machine to look at the back. Keeping in mind I have taken it mostly apart and put back together, how hard will it be to replace bearings, and how do I know if it really is the bearings, this squeek has got to go!

SOURCE: bearing on front load washing machine needs replacing (Frigidaire

You will need to replace the tub rear shell/bearing assembly (part # 131525500).
To do this, practically the whole machine will need to come apart.
To remove the drive pulley, remove rear cabinet panel. Remove the pulley screw and pull back on the pulley (you may need to giggle it as you pull to remove it).
For the shock pins, grab the open end with a pair of vise-grips. On the "pointy" side of the pin press the tab in with your finger (if you can't push the tab in slide a 9/16" socket onto it) and pull the pin out with the vise-grips (twist back and forth slightly as you pull).

A qualified tech could replace the rear shell/bearing in about 1.5 - 2 hrs. I can certainly give you more help if you need it, let me know.
Good luck!

Dryer squeeks very loud. Still drys but noice is very schrill.

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire dryer, model# GLER341A, is drying, but is making a very shrill and loud squeaking sound. There could be several possibilities that might be causing this sound. Please make sure your dryer is level. Check from side to side, front to back, and corner to corner. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Loud squeaking dryer

I have one of these units. They are great appliances. What you have is a very common problem with these units, the drum support bearing is going bad. I think they make a repair kit, but it's a chore to get to. If you are mechanically inclined, you'll do fine. Just make sure you remember the order you took stuff off, and reverse it to get it all back together.

My dryer is making a very loud, constant squeeking/squilling sound. I took apart the front and top and examined the belt. The belt is fine! The dryer works but even wth my laundry door closed, it is really...

In the back of the dryer there is a ball bearing unit that it rotates on... I have changed these before,
and they all made the same noise you described. Most dryers ( ALL TYPES ) have the same basic design.......This should be your problem....I think they are about 30 or 40 dollars..kinda hard to change will need plenty of room to work in and maybe an assistant to help hold it in place because it has to be centered.

Frigidaire combo washer/dryer screws inside come off

The drum shaft came loose from drum. You can YouTube it for procedure of disassembly of dryer. Remount shaft, if screws are bad may need new shaft with screws, make sure it is tight to drum. While you have it apart you can clean out lint.

Frigidaire electric dryer; model # FDEB34RGS1- gets TOO hot!

I could not find the model number you listed. I also would be very concerned about over heating until we can find and locate the problem. Look inside the door and compare number with the on listed here at Fixya. Thanks, Sea Breeze
