Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My washing machine won't go past the rinse stage. If I set it to Spin, it just keeps pulsing. It seems to drain OK, and I checked the fan underneath- it wasn't stuck. If I try a wash cycle, it stops after a while (I think after the rinse stage, as the water is drained out) and it beeps continuously. The 3rd and 5th lights flash. It's not worth paying hundreds to repair, as it's over 4 years old, but I'd like to fix it if I can. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your fast response. The machine is a Fisher & Paykel model MW512. The motor is still going, as the bowl goes back and forth as in the wash/rinse cycle; it just never goes on to the spinning stage.

Hi

If this is a fisher & paykel washer then those blinking lights indicate a bowl disengaged fault. It means that the display module has found that the bowl is not engaged even though the pressure sensor indicates that the bowl is empty. The Motor Controller continues to check for 2 minutes after which time the display this fault. The first two areas to check are the clutch and the pressure tube. If these two appear correct, then the fault could be in the pressure transducer in the Motor Controller. And to do this repair you will have to take it apart completely and clean the drain pump assembly and the pressure hose. After cleaning if the issue returns then the motor controller should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I had the same problem before, but removing the kink in drain hose does the trick. Maybe yours is more complicated but try it.

Machine had been giving E20 error code - filter cleared and it re-started ok. When wash was in progress - jammed at rinse stage and all lights came on (except spin speeds) and humming noise and nothing...

E20 is an error code for drainage failure.

Check where the appliance drain hose connects to the house drains for a blockage.

If it's onto a spigot under the sink, take them off and check both for a blockage.

If these are ok then it's likely to be a blockage in the pump.

You'll need to drain the water out manually.

Put a shallow dish below the filter and slacken the filter.

Tighten it to stop the flow of water while you empty the dish.

Once empty, take the filter out, clean out the debris and ensure nothing is left jamming the pump.

Before refitting the filter, put the machine on drain or spin and listen at the filter housing to see if you can hear the pump running.

If you do, fit the filter and try the machine again.

Kenmore washer 90 series continue to fill w/water. Load size won't stop the fill... had to shut off water source. won't get to agitate phase... just want to stay at fill stage... can drain, spin,...

Sounds like the fill switch needs to be replaced. A good way to test it is to set your machine on low fill and see if it fills past 3/4. If it does, it's the fill switch.

Hi there, it sounds like your drain pump is not working. Tip the washing machine back and look underneath. The drain pump has a little black fan on it. Disconnect the hose to see if there's anything stuck in the drain, like coins, hair clips etc. Clear out the pump and remember to reconnect the hose securely before trying out the washing machine.
Please remember to rate this solution, thanks.

Hwf-800X no spin, no rinsing

Remove the filter at the front and make sure this is all clear then when thats out make sure the impeller turns ok. It should ping round in stages.

Then check were the drain hose goes to make sure this is ok. After all this retry machine on rinse and spin with nothing in and see if it goes through ok and drains the water fast enough.

As it sounds like it could possible be a draining fault.

Kenmore 80 series top load washer. In the permanent press mode the machine will stop when it moves to the rinse mode. I can manually move the time past the midpoint of the cycle it will run for a minute...

So it will spin and drain when put in the spin cycle right? More than likely it is your timer if you have to keep manually setting. I would check on timer prices and go from there.

I have a BOSCH washer/dryer WVTI2840 which keeps showing the error code E06. I have checked the pump and also had a new one fitted! The code still appears but now the machine will not spin on a rinse spin...

This error is indicating drain problem. You will have to manually drain the machine. E06 is a draining problem.
When you took the filter out did you check there was nothing jamming the impeller at the back?

Make sure the impeller turns ok. It should ping round in stages.
Also check were it drains to. If under a sink check the pipes there.

If after that its still not draining then its likely to be the pump which is faulty. If you have already replaced the pump then check the connection of pump to the hose.
